    Equipment required:

    Timer CounterDigital Multimeter

    1) Place the DMM in series with the earth path. select the lamA range x ~trip and press the test button.

a} Check that the output current on DMM reads between 4.75mA and 5.0mA at240V.

    b) Set the UTT to 30mA x \ trip, press the test button and check that theoutput current on the DMM reads between i4.25mA and i5.0mA at 240V.

    c) Set the UTT to 100mA x ~ trip, press the test button and check that theoutput current reads between 47.5mA and 50.0mA at 240V.

    2) Repeat steps a to c, but this time set the UTT at x 1 trip and theoutput current should be between (a) 9.75mA and 10.25mA, (b) 29.25mAand 30.75mA and (c) 97.5mA and 102.5mA.

    3) Set the DMM to DC mA and then switch the UTT to DC test. Check thatthe DMM reads +6mA +3% at 240V. It should be +6mA at 00 phase and -6mA at 1800 phase.

    4) Using the timer counter check that the KMP 5406 reads up to 2000ms on x~ and x 1. Then switch to the x 5 range and check that the unit readsup to 50ms.

    5) Set the KMP 5406 to DC function and range selector switch to 30mA,Check that the waveform is as below for both 0° and 180°,

Note: this procedm-e is for Wlits from serial number 3155596 onwards.

  • 5. Calibration5.1 Required Equipment and Tools

Prepare the following items for calibration.(1) 230V. 50Hz power supply Oines or constant voltage, output current 2.7A or mores):(2) RMS value of AC current meter of capacity 2.7 A or over (for monitoring measured

current)(3) Mean value of DC current meter of capacity up to 1 A (for monitoring measured DC

current range)(4) Calibration screwdriver (ceramics are recommended)

5.2 Preparation for Calibration(1) Remove Bottom Case as described in 4.2.

    5.3 Calibration

    (1) Make connections as shown in Figure 2.

    230V/50Hz

    , m PE

    Fig.2 Connection Diagram

    (2) Set Function Switch to RCD x1/2 and RCD Range Switch to 300mA range.(3) Press TEST button to check the current meter reading.(4) Calibrate the variable resistance VR1 on main PCB to give the measured current at

approx. 142.5mA by using a calibration screwdriver. (Do not change current whilecalibrating the VR1)

    (5) After the adjustment of x1/2 and 300mA range, check the current values on otherranges. If the current values are out of the range shown in Table 1, adjust the VR1

again for fine adjustment001 0 As for x5 range, at most 50ms flows, so read the current value by using the

peak hold function etc. of current meter.0O20Measure the current value of DC range by using the mean value of DC

    current meter.
