Executive President’s Message

Executive - President of Atharva Group of Institutes
& Founder Secretary - AET
Atharva, The name itself is one of the fastest
growing educational brands in India which trains the
future leaders and aspirants of Technology and
Innovation Industry. The objective of the Atharva
Group of Institutes is to provide outstanding and
accessible experiences that create ‘industry ready’
youth who can be gainfully employed upon
completion of their courses.
Our focus is on Research, Technology &
Innovation.
MHRD's Institution Innovation Council
(IIC) at Atharva College of Engineering has
achieved a whopping score of 24.99 out of
25 in the first quarter ratings of MHRD,
Government of India.
Times Education Icons 2019 Award by
Times of India Atharva College of Engineering has been
bestowed upon with the Prestigious Award for
Times Education Icons 2019 Mumbai by
Times of India. The visionary leadership of Shri
Sunil Rane, Executive President AGI, towards
Research Technology and Innovation has
bought this success.
Award was received by Vice Principal, Ms.
Jyoti Mali during the ceremony on November
18, 2019 at Mumbai.

One Day Industrial Visit was organized at Godrej
Security Solutions, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd.,
Vikhroli, Navi Mumbai. Mr. Mallikaarjun briefed
about the different project opportunities running in
Godrej and also briefed about innovations going in
ML & IoT.
Short session for Yoga & Meditation was scheduled
for relaxing all the participants of the STTP.
Department of Electronics Engineering is thankful to
Hon. Shri. Sunil Rane, Executive President, Atharva
Group of Institutes, for giving an opportunity to
organize the STTP. Department would also like to
thank Dr. P.N. Nemade, Director of Atharva College
of Engineering, for his constant support & motivation,

Engineering, for his valuable guidance & suggestions,

2 Weeks Short Term Training
Program (STTP) on “Machine
Learning & IoT”
(25th November - 6th December, 2019)
The Department of Electronics Engineering, Atharva
college of Engineering, Mumbai organized AICTE-
ISTE approved 2 Weeks Short Term Training
Program (STTP) on “Machine Learning & IoT”. This
STTP was aimed for teachers who are teaching to
various disciplines of engineering and technology
subjects in colleges or Universities. 32 participants
registered for this STTP of which 3 externals
participants and 1 industry expert attended the STTP.
Dr. S. P. Kallurkar, Principal, Atharva College of
Engineering, Mumbai inaugurated the programme.
Dr. Zia Saquib, Senior Vice President of
Technology Innovation & Development at Reliance
JIO was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function.
Dr. Zia Saquib spoke about the importance of using
machine learning on IoT data with different case
studies like medical, agriculture. Dr. Bhavin Shah
(Convener and Head of ETRX.), Mr. Ranjan Kumar
(Speaker), Mr Sanjay Singh (Speaker), Prof. Samuel
Jacob, Vice Principal, Technical, Prof. Karuna Nikum,
Vice Principal, R&D, Prof. Suvarna Pansambal (HOD
CMPN) and Prof. Deepali Maste (HOD INFT) graced
the inaugural function.
The Speakers, Ms. Anita Choudhari, Dr. Vijay Katkar,
Mr. Santosh Chapaneri delivered hands on sessions.

Seminar on Applications of Mathematics
Seminar on Applications of Mathematics was
organized by Humanities and Applied Science
department for FE students on October 16, 2019. The
invited Speaker was Darshit Suratwala, Platform
Engineer, Quanti Phi and Alumni of Atharva College
of Engineering.
Virtual Classroom on Trends in Electrical
Vehicle Technology
Department of Electrical Engineering organized a
Virtual Classroom on Trends in Electrical Vehicle
Technology for the students of SE Electrical
Engineering. The expert faculty was Dr. Jignesh
Makwana from Marwadi University, Rajkot, Gujarat.
Dr. Makwana obliged us by giving a privilege to
register 10 students for the aforementioned course for
free.
Mini Project Exhibition
Department of Humanities and Applied Science
organized a mini Project exhibition on project based
learning of Engineering Mechanics on November 8,
2019 for First Year students of Atharva College of
Engineering
Parents Teacher Meeting
Department of Humanities and Applied Sciences
organized Parents Teacher Meeting for students of
FE. Parents interacted with the Mentors and Class In
charges and were made aware about their wards
progress. Positive response was acknowledged from
parents.

NSS Activities
NSS Atharva organized voter awareness campaign in
the college on October 11, 2019. Shri Sambhaji
Adkune (Returning Officer, 161-Charkop
Constituency), Shri Sanjay Kurhade (Asst. Muncipal
Commissioner) were the guest speakers for the event.
A demo of EVM machine was also presented to the
students.
NSS Atharva celebrated 150th birth anniversary of
Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, 2019. On this
auspicious day students cleaned the campus to support
Swacha Bharat Abhiyaan and encouraged people for
the same.
Guest lecture "Research related in RF,
Microwaves and Antennas” and "Benefits of
IEEE membership
A guest lecture was organized on the following
topics "Research related in RF, Microwaves and
Antennas” and "Benefits of IEEE membership,
association and activities for UG, PG and
working professionals on December 12, 2019.
The invited speaker was Dr. Chinmoy Saha,
Associate Professor, Department of Avionics,
Indian Institute of Space Science and
Technology, Valiamala, Kerala, Ms. Karuna
Nikum, Vice Principal, Research and
Development, coordinated the event.
Seminar on Research Paper Writing
Department of Computer Engineering conducted the
seminar on "Research Paper Writing" under the
guidance of Prof Suvarna Pansambal and Prof
Mahendra Patil on October 3, 2019. It was an
informative session for all the students to write good
research papers.

IEEE TECHITHON 2019 – Innovazia
Atharva College of Engineering hosted one of
the most jubilant and elaborate annual technical
fest held during October 9 to 11, 2019. IEEE
TECHITHON is the annual inter-collegiate
Technical Festival which encourages
engineering undergraduates to showcase their
technical skills and compete with others to find
the best. The Chief Guest of the Inaugural
Ceremony was Mr. Dattatrayji Rane, Ex
Education Minister, Mr. Sunil Khanna, from CII
and MD of Vertiv Pvt ltd and Mr. Arun
Srivastava, The Students from different
technical colleges across Mumbai participated
to showcase their technical projects along with
Atharva college students in the event.
The Theme of the fest is “Innovazia,
Revamping Tech... ".Innovazia is the
environment where the existing technology is
re-accelerated to fit the needs of the new
generation. Internet is buzzing with the concept
of 'Revolution 2020'.
Hackathon
A 24 hour Hackathon was organized by the
committee on October 10, 2019.
Intra Departmental Events were held on 11th
October 11, 2019.
Atharva Guest Lecture Series
IEEE TECHITHON 2K19 introduced Atharva
Guest Lecture Series. Speakers from various fields
were invited to share their knowledge & experience
with the students on October 10, 2019.
The invited Speakers were Captain Dharmveer, Ex
Army Officer, Entrepreneur, Runner, and
Mountaineer, Mr. Ali Mustufa Shaikh, Software
Innovator at Intel, Facilitator at Google AI , Machine
Learning Trainer, Youngest mentor of Smart India
Hackathon, Prof. Nirmal Thakur, IEEE BOMBAY
SECTION Speaker, Lecturer in NMIMS, Expert in
Mechatronics and Mr. Kuntal Joisher, Software
Engineer, Mountaineer, First vegan to climb Mount
Everest.
Technical Events
Technical events like Technical Paper Presentation,
Poster Presentation, Web Designing, Code Breaking,
Blind Coding, IOT Project Competition, Mini
Project Competition, Robo Wars, Robo Soccer. Also
special attractions like Hogathon, Treasure hunt, Fun
events and Mobile gaming events were also
organized.

▪ Anujay Ghosh and Shital mhadik won the best
paper award at IEPCCT Springer conference at
SOA, Bhubaneswar, Odisha
▪ Atharva College of Engineering participated in
University baseball tournament at CKT Degree
college Panvel on December 13, 2019. The team
is one of the top 8 teams of the tournament.
▪ Team VENGERS, Krunal Bharat Gediya,
Abhishek Bandivadekar, Saurabh Soparkar and
Premkumar Raval from Atharva College of
Engineering, Mumbai won Prize for "Best
Innovative Idea" & "Best Idea Presentation"
at InNerve 4.0 Hackathon at Army Institute of
Technology, Pune, India.
Proposed Idea: “EdXR” - Smart Mixed Reality
Enabled Learning.
▪ Team VENGERS from Department of
Computer Engineering of Atharva College of
Engineering, Mumbai was selected as one of the
finalist teams of Hack.Asia in the
"SECURITY GO! Challenge” Singapore
under the guidance of Prof. Priti Rumao.
Student Achievements
▪ Congratulations to Aditya Khedekar and team
from Department of computer engineering for
winning in Techtatva Manipal Hackathon 2019
organized by Manipal Institute of technology,
Karnataka.
▪ Siddharth Sinha, final year student of Atharva
College of Engineering, IT dept., went to Airbus
Aerothon, 2.0, held in New Horizon College of
Engineering, Bangalore, on Sunday, December
8, 2019 and his team, along with 2 other teams
won the hackathon. After hackathon, a gala
event was organized with former ISRO
chairman, Dr. Kiran Kumar, speaking about his
ISRO memories and Chandrayaan

▪ Mandar Vasaikar of S.E. from Electrical
Engineering branch won his first ever All India
National medal in the All India Junior Nationals
Athletics Championship which was held at
Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) from 2nd to 6th
November 2019.
▪ Shefali Mahadik from BECMPN1 won Oxford
debate competition at Sardar Patel College of
Engineering, on 4th and 5th October 2019.
▪ Crusaders, Atharva College of Engineering's
Dance team won second runner up at IIT
Bombay's Cultural Festival - Mood Indigo, in
the Indigo saga category (Contemporary
thematic dance) on December 28, 2019.

5. Cognitive Cloud Computing:
Cognitive Cloud is an extended ecosystem of
traditional Cloud and Cognitive Computing.
It converses in human language and helps experts in
better decision making by understanding the
complexities of Big Data. Its market size is expected
to generate revenue of $13.8 billion by 2020.
6. Internet of Things
IoT essentially is connecting many devices and
creating a virtual network where everything works
seamlessly via a single monitoring center of sorts.
IoT is a giant network of connected devices – all of
which gather and share data about how they are used
and the environments in which they are operated
7. RPA (Robotic Process Automation):
Generally, any desk job in any industry involves tasks
that are repetitive in nature and can be automated.
RPA or Robotic Process Automation allows you to
automate such routine and repetitive tasks.
Top Trending Technologies
Here are some of the trending technologies, which is
expected to acquire a huge market in 2020.
1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
AI existed even before the internet was born, but it is
now that the data processing and compute power
backbone became strong enough to sustain an entire
technology by itself.
2. Blockchain
This is the technology that powers bitcoins, the whole
new parallel currency that has taken over the world.
Interestingly, blockchain as a technology has far-
reaching potential in everything from healthcare to
elections to real estate to law enforcement.
3. Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality
Virtual is real! VR and AR, the twin technologies that
let you experience things in virtual that are extremely
close to real are today being used by businesses of all
sizes and shapes
4. Big data
Big data refers to problems that are associated with
processing and storing different types of data. Most of
the companies today rely on big data analytics to gain
huge insight about their customer, product research,
marketing initiatives and many more.
