They join the growing number of sculptures that form the permanent collection of Sculpt Siouxland and remain on permanent display.
Honorarium Each artist accepted into the 2018-2019 Sculpt Siouxland exhibit will be given an honorarium of $1,500 per accepted sculpture. Therefore, if two sculptures by the same artist are selected, the artist will receive $3,000.
AwardsArtists featured in the exhibit will be eligible to win the following award:Jury’s Choice - $1,500*
*In lieu of the cash award, Sculpt Siouxland may propose to the Jury’s Choice Award recipient the option of purchasing the sculpture minus a 30% Sculpt Siouxland commission.
Sculpture PurchasesSculpt Siouxland is active in acquiring sculptures for its collection and in attracting private collectors. Sculpt Siouxland retains a 30% commission on sales. During its 13 years of activity, Sculpt Siouxland has acquired more than 20 sculptures with many more purchased for private collections.
Sculpture Criteria • Artists of all backgrounds may apply. Sculpt Siouxland is a public project and all proposed sculptures are screened to insure suitability for viewing by all audiences. • Artists may submit up to three sculptures for jurying. • Sculptures should be unique (non-editioned) works. • Each sculpture exhibited must be durable, freestanding, and capable of being bolted to the sidewalk or a concrete pad. Please note: sculptures will be installed at or near ground-level.
CelebrationAt the end of the exhibit year on June 6, 2019, the Sioux City Art Center will host the Sculpt Siouxland Celebration. The sculptures will be brought to the Art Center grounds for a public reception and final opportunity to be purchased. Participating artists are highly encouraged to attend this event. Each artist may also bring a smaller sculpture (able to fit on a 24”x24” pedestal) to be included in a silent auction.
PublicationA brochure will be produced that includes a map showing the locations of all sculptures.
