Timothy Gillespie has been practicing dentistry in Asheville, North Carolina, for nearly 20 years. He works in the areas of dental implants, cosmetic procedures, and general dentistry and maintains memberships in the American Dental Association, the American Association of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Throughout his tenure in the field, Gillespie has embraced new technologies in order to better serve his patients and makes extensive use of developing technologies including the intraoral camera.

Intraoral Cameras

Dentists and researchers have been using cameras to study the teeth and mouth since the 1980s. While revolutionary at the time, camera systems have continued to evolve throughout the years. While the first intraoral cameras included large base stations that took up a significant portion of exam room real estate, many of today’s cameras work in conjunction with computer systems dentists already own. Even the variety of imaging software does not hinder the use of different cameras because many are designed to integrate with numerous formats. Today’s intraoral cameras provide dentists with high-resolution, crystal-clear images that help them diagnose and treat patients like never before.
