Phân từ dùng như tính từ Cả hiện tại phân từ (ing) và quá khứ phân từ (ed) cũng có thể được dùng như tính từ. Cần phải

cẩn thận khi sử dụng chúng. Hiện tại phân từ có chức năng tính từ. Cần phải cẩn thận khi sử

dụng chúng. Hiện tại phân từ có chức năng tính từ như: amusing (vui tính), boring (tẻ nhạt,

chán ngán), tiring (mệt nhọc, chán ngán) v.v… là chủ động và có nghĩa là “có ảnh hưởng này”.Quá khứ phân từ có chức năng tính từ như amused, horrified, tired, v.v…. là thụ động và có ý

nghĩa: “bị ảnh hưởng theo cách này”

The play was boring (vở kich thì tẻ nhạt) [khan giả bị tẻ nhạt]

The work was tiring (công việc thì mệt nhọc, chán nản)

The scene was horrifying (quang cảnh thì khủng khiế p)
