A formal structure within a nested governance The Buna River Velipoje Protected Landscape (BRVPL) in Albania has a formalised, state driven governance structure that continues to evolve within a legislative framework. The Management Committee plays a supervising role and has no executive powers. The Regional Agency of Protected Areas (RAPA) is responsible for the management of the protected area.

The Buna delta is an integral part of the overall Drin basin for which there has been successful multilateral agreement since 2012. The governance of this Basin, includes the Meeting of Parties. From ‘source to sea’ they are: Greece, North Macedonia, Albania,Kosovo, Montenegro, and the Drin Core Group.
