Getting Started

How to Verify .Net Is on the Minimum Required Version

• Open Control Panel on Windows. • Select Programs and Features. • Select Turn Windows Features on or off.

o .Net version will be displayed at the top of the list.

How to Verify Transaction Services Is Licensed • Verify via License Manager app under Micros Applications. • Start menu. • Micros Applications. • License Manager. • Once the application is open, navigate to the POS 3700 Tab.

• If the merchant does not have enough space on their C drive, the D drive can be used as a substitute. • Note: If the D drive is not the default directory, the trace configuration will need to be adjusted

accordingly. See below.

o Under the Advanced Tab in UTG:

Select Trace Configuration and make sure the directory within is D:\Shift4\UTG2\Trace\. Select OK. Select Splunk Configuration and make sure the directory within is D:\Shift4\Splunk\. Select OK.

How to Access the Micros Applications • Windows start key. • Micros Applications.

o Here you can find: POS configurator, etc.

How to Backup a Database • Open the Database Manager application under Micros Applications.

o Select Backup Database.

Check: Backup Database. Check: Validate Database. Select Run Backup.

How to Restore a Database • Open the Database Manager application under Micros Applications.

o Select Restore Database.

Select Restore Database Button. Select Backup that was originally taken. Select Restore. A message will come up that says: Restoration is complete. Database Manager will close, please

restart your service and all clients.

How to Find the Tender and Service Charge Numbers • Open the POS configurator. • Select the Sales tab. • Select Tender/Media button. • This is where the numbers listed will match the tender name.

How to Find the Interface Port • Open the POS configurator. • Select the Devices tab. • Select the Interfaces button.

• Click on the interface to select it. • On the right half of the menu, choose the Interface tab. • Here you will find the TCP Server Name and the corresponding TCP Port Number.

How to Find the Interface Number • Open the POS configurator. • Select the Devices tab. • Select the Interfaces button. • On this screen, the number next to the name of the interface indicates the interface number.

How to Find the URL • The URL is the IP address entered into UTG.

o This is the IP address of the server.

What If I Have Multiple Revenue Centers? You can have multiple revenue centers but they will require individual tokens for each one.

What Does a Standard Receipt Look Like? While there are configurations within the MICROS POS configurator for receipt printing, generally receipts should appear like:

Receiving Customer/Merchant Receipts Once Payment Has Been Finalized

1. Access Shift4 Interface > Shift4 Configuration to modify the settings.

2. Once inside the configuration, on the General tab, select the check box for Do not print Capture chit. (Default password is “custom/custom”.)

3. For this change to be applied, you must restart the Shift4 Bridge interface service. This service is located in the Windows services and is listed as Shift4 3700 Interface.

Removing Suggested Tips from Printing on the Receipts 1. You must remove the lines with the Shift4inlcude.isl file. This is the file that is included in the 3700 Bridge

download.

2. Remove the trailer lines [1]-[9] beginning at the //. Once done, save the file. (Keep the file name as Shift4include.isl when saving.)

3. You will need to ensure the updated Shift4include.isl file is in the following folder directories:

• For the Micros Server, copy Shift4Include.isl to:

o \MICROS\Res\Pos\Etc\Shift4Include.isl

• For the Micros Workstations, copy Shift4Include.isl to:

o \MICROS\Res\CAL\WS5A\Files\CF\Micros\Etc\Shift4Include.isl o \MICROS\Res\CAL\WS5\Files\CF\Micros\Etc\Shift4Include.isl o \MICROS\Res\CAL\WS4LX\Files\CF\Micros\Etc\Shift4Include.isl o \MICROS\Res\CAL\WS4\Files\CF\Micros\Etc\Shift4Include.isl o \MICROS\Res\CAL\Win32\Files\Micros\Res\Pos\Etc\Shift4Include.isl

4. Restart the Shift4 3700 Interface Windows server and reconfigure CAL to ensure the files have been updated to each workstation.

What If Suggested Tips Are Not Printing on Receipts? This is resolved in Bridge installer version 1.0.1.15, so please validate the Shift4 Micros Bridge version you are utilizing. If on an older version is in use, please update to this latest version.
