THE NEW EU DIRECTIVE

WÜRTH NOW MAKES THE LAW AN OPPORTUNITY

Page 3: TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM - wuerth...TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM 7 The lifting platform is the time-critical bottleneck in the work process, particularly in the tire change

TPMS will be compulsory throughout Europe as from 1st November 2014.All new vehicles in the automobile, off-road vehicle and RV class that have received new type approval since November 1st 2012 must be factory-fitted with a TPMS. Although fitting these systems as standard in all newly registered vehicles in this class does not become compulsory until November 1st 2014, automobile manufacturers have for a long time been changing over production for vehicle models that had already been granted type approval earlier, so that new vehicles will meet these requirements on the deadline date.

Würth prevents extreme storage costs.Manufacturers are specifically depending on systems that perform direct measurements, in which a pressure sensor is installed in the wheels. Already, some 150 different sensors are installed in vehicles in the factory. This would mean that an independent workshop and a tire dealer would now have to have all sensors and the related diagnostics equipment available in order to meet their customers' requirements – and storage costs would increase enormously. However, thanks to the freely programmable EZ sensors® and the iQ 50 programming and diagnostics tool, a specialist company can now cover 90% of all vehicle models.

Würth provides the best tool and in-depth knowledge. The consequence of the EU directive is that even for a simple wheel/tire change, special system knowledge and special tools are required, and the amount of time needed will change significantly. To be able to provide customers with competent advice and to enable them to plan their own work realistically, the staff doing the work must have both expert and technical knowledge. Therefore, WÜRTH offers its customers technical training in collaboration with its cooperation partner Schrader International. Online-based interactive training is also available to supplement this.

The new EU directive and its consequences for vehicle workshops and specialist tire shops.

THE COMPLETE PACKAGE

TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF YOU: THE COMPLETE PACKAGE FROM A SINGLE SOURCEA sensor for 90% of all vehicle models – your greatest competitive advantage. The EZ sensor® is the innovation that will benefit independent workshops and specialist tire dealers. It is freely programmable and covers almost all original sensors. This means that Würth customers incur only a fraction of the procurement and storage costs, and at the same time enjoy greater flexibility.

From the sensor and programming/diagnostic tool to the special tool to the technical training and the best advice.

A programming and diagnosis tool for a highly efficient work sequence. The iQ 50 programming and diagnosis tool that includes TPMS Snooper+ increases the efficiency of the entire work sequence, from vehicle selection, to the creating, cloning and programming of sensor IDs, to saving and personalizing data records.

Special tool for high-quality professional work.Tire pressure monitoring sensors, valves and gaskets are sensitive components. Würth brings you a high-precision tool for professional and at the same time rational installation.

Interactive online training and personal technical training. The training courses will make your staff fully ready for TPMS: From the main legal directives to the systems, sensors, how to use them and of course all the necessary work steps and how to optimize them.

Communication competence means satisfied customers.Apportion your additional performances and at the same time communicate to your customers the great benefits of TPMS – greater safety, reduced fuel consumption, less environmental pollution. To do this, use the arguments put forward in the training courses. From the fall of 2014 onwards, Würth will also provide you with special advertising materials. Find out more at www.wuerth.de/rdks

6 TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM

The optimum work sequence:Employee A concentrates with the iQ 50 on diagnosing incoming vehicles (step 1) and processing vehicles with new tires or wheels and sensors (step 3). Employee B (or a whole team) concentrate at the same time on fitting new tires/wheels and sensors (step 2). Thanks to the data saved in the iQ 50, employee A does not have to wait until a vehicle is finished in order to already perform the diagnosis to other incoming vehicles.

Step 1: TPMS diagnosis "Test before touch"• Check of the TPMS system• Reading out the sensors – ascertaining the

battery status, pressure, temperature• Ascertaining the sensor identity (sensor ID)• Saving/printing out the TPMS status before the

service• Many options such as entering license number,

vehicle model, model year, choice of steel/aluminum rim

The freely programmable EZ sensors® and the iQ 50 programming and diagnosis tool deliver enormous advantages in your daily work. The iQ 50 can store up to 100 sets of vehicle data. This enables to diagnose the TPMS of incoming vehicles and at the same time to process other vehicles with already newly fitted tires or complete wheels – which means programming the new sensors and teaching them for that vehicle.

7TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM

The lifting platform is the time-critical bottleneck in the work process, particularly in the tire change high season. In contrast to other systems, this workplace is not blocked by using the iQ 50 and the EZ sensors®, as the programming and the teaching can be done anywhere – for example in the car park.

Step 2: Fitting the wheels/tires and sensorsDepending on the diagnosis and the customer order, complete tire/wheel sets are fitted with new EZ sensors®, or individual tires/wheels or EZ sensors® are replaced. Advantage: Great flexi-bility and speed combined with minimal storage costs, as the neutral sensors from Würth cover 90% of all vehicle models.

Step 3: Cloning or programming and teaching sensor IDs• Quick and simple cloning or reprogramming of

the sensor ID – individually or as a complete set• Teaching the EZ sensors® to the TPMS control

unit in the vehicle• Saving/printing out the TPMS status as proof

after the service
