TitanicWhat was so special about
life on board the Titanic and
was it the same for everyone?
This is an advertisement for the maiden voyage of The Titanic.
Why do you think the Titanic might be thought of as so special at the time?
Why do you think so many people wanted to travel on her?
What clues can you see on the poster to help you?
On The Titanic there were three different categories of passengers, each having access to different facilities.

I joined the Titanic at Cherbourg in
France. I’m going home to America after
travelling all over Europe. I visited Italy,
then Monte Carlo and Paris, where I
went up the Eiffel Tower. I have a suite on
board which is very luxurious with a
private promenade. I eat in the best restaurants.
I’m sailing from Ireland to America.
There’s no work in Ireland so I sold
everything to buy a ticket to America
to find a job there. I don’t mind the
fact that I have to share a cabin with 3
other people. It is clean and
comfortable. There’s not much to do
on board but there are lots of people
to get to know and we enjoy skipping
ropes.
