R101 130 SeriesMedium pressure 105 bar / 1500 PSI

Application

This hose is used in medium pressure applications at an operating pressure of 105 bar.It is mainly used in hydraulic, fuel, lubricant and pneumatic systems and is compatiblewith all types of gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. The design of this hose enables itto withstand an absolute vacuum from ND 4 (-2 1/2) to ND 16 (-10). For larger sizes,we recommend to use an internal helical retainer to ensure good pressure resistance.

Hose construction

- Innercore: It consists of extruded Teflon® powder charged with carbon. The additionof a carbon charge before extrusion offers good electrical conductivity. The Teflon® isa PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), whose main characteristics are excellent resistance tochemicals, the ability to be used over a temperature range between -54°C and +232°C(-65°F and +450°F), and an unlimited shelf-life.

- Armour : The innercore is reinforced by a braid consisting of type 304 stainless steelwire. For the ND 4 (-2 1/2) to ND 20 (-12) the armour consists of a single braid, whilefor the ND 25 (-16) to ND 40 (-24) it consists of a double braid (reference followed bythe letter Z).

- The fittings are swaged to the hose by a progressive swaging method. Several familiesof materials are qualified: stainless steel fittings (insert, nut and collar), titanium fittings(titanium insert and nut, stainless steel collar), steel fittings (steel insert and nut, stain-less steel collar) and aluminium alloy fittings. For this family, it is necessary to differen-tiate between the -2 1/2 to -5(stainless steel insert and collar, aluminium alloy nut) andthe -6 to -24Z (aluminium alloy insert and nut, stainless steel collar).

R160 240 SeriesHigh Pressure Hose assemblies 210 bar / 3000 PSI

Application

This hose is used for high pressure applications at an operating pressure of 210 bar forairborne equipment. This hose can be used for non-airborne equipment at an operatingpressure up to 350 bar, subject to technical approval by our design office. It is compatiblewith all types of gases such as nitrogen and oxygen and is suitable for both hydraulicand pneumatic systems.

Application

This hose is used for high pressure applications at an operating pressure of 210 bar forairborne equipment. If our technical department agrees, it is possible to use this hoseat an operating pressure of 280 bar for airborne equipment. This hose can be used fornon-airborne equipment at an operating pressure up to 420 bar, subject to technicalapproval by our design office. This hose is used for high pressure applications at an operating pressure of 280 bar, forairborne equipment in accordance with the requirements of AS614 or an operatingpressure of 345 bar for airborne equipment in accordance with the requirements ofAS4098. This hose may be used for non-airborne equipment at operating pressures ofup to 551 bar, subject to technical approval by our design office. It is compatible withall types of gases such as nitrogen and oxygen and is suitable for both hydraulic andpneumatic systems.

SA500 500 SeriesUltra high Pressure 350 bar / 5000 PSI

Application

This hose is used for very high pressure applications at an operating pressure of 350 bar,for airborne equipment in accordance with the requirements of AS5951 (except for thepulsed twisting test) or an operating pressure of 275 bar for airborne equipment inaccordance with the requirements of AS1975. This hose may be used for non-airborneequipment at operating pressures of up to 650 bar, subject to technical approval by ourdesign office. It is compatible with all types of gases such as nitrogen and oxygen andis suitable for both hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Hose Construction

- Innercore : It consists of extruded Teflon® powder charged with carbon. The additionof a carbon charge before extrusion offers good electrical conductivity. The Teflon® isa PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), whose main characteristics are excellent resistance tochemicals, the ability to be used over a temperature range between -54°C and +135°C(-65°F and +275°F), and an unlimited shelf-life.

- Armour : The innercore is reinforced by several layers of braid comprising controlledtension kevlar® fibres. In order to protect the kevlar® from chemical and ultravioletattack, a teflon® tape is wrapped around it. A final braid consisting of controlledtension cordura® fibres offers the hose excellent abrasion resistance.

- The fittings are swaged to the hose using a progressive radial swaging method (alsocalled crimping). There are two fitting families. The hose equipped with titanium alloyfittings (titanium insert, nut, hexagonal ring, stainless steel crimping collar) wasdeveloped and tested to comply with the requirements of standards AS1975 and AS5951. Introduction

The R267 - Series 410 hose is a product that has existed since 1959. The R367 - Series480 hose is an equivalent product developed in 1998, corresponding to the samemanufacturing processes, the same applications and the same approvals. The R367hose is an upgrade of the R267 hose.

Application

These hoses are used for medium pressure applications at an operating pressure of 70bar. They were developed to handle applications requiring greater flexibility orimproved negative pressure strength than products consisting of extruded PTFE. Theyare compatible with all types of gases such as nitrogen and oxygen and with all typesof liquids such as fuels or hydraulic fluids. The design of this hose enables it towithstand an absolute vacuum from ND 6 (-04) to ND 20 (-12). For larger sizes, werecommend to use an internal helical retainer to ensure good pressure resistance.

Hose Construction

- Innercore : It consists of tapes wound around a helical matrix. The first layer is a tapeof carbon-charged Teflon®. The addition of a carbon charge offers good electricalconductivity. The second tape is thicker and consists solely of Teflon®. Finally, the lasttape consists of a silk fabric mixed with Teflon®. The Teflon® is a PTFE (polytetrafluo-roethylene), whose main characteristics are excellent resistance to chemicals, theability to be used over a temperature range between -54°C and +204°C (-65°F and+400°F), and an unlimited shelf-life.

A simple restriction of themaximum operating temperature to 135°C (+275°F) for the fittings consisting ofaluminium alloys is required. Application

This hose is used for low pressure applications at an operating pressure of 21 bar. It wasdeveloped to handle applications requiring a very great flexibility and a very lightweight. It also offers an improved vacuum strength than products consisting ofextruded PTFE. It is mainly used for anemometric circuits and drains. It is compatiblewith all types of fluids and gases. The design of this hose enables it to withstand anabsolute vacuum from ND 6 (-04) to ND 20 (-12). For ND 25 (-16) we recommendusing an internal helical retainer to ensure good pressure resistance.

Application

Medium pressure hose assemblies, aerospace, missile and test bench use. Can be use athigher pressure with our engineering approval for ground support, Marine or non-surgeapplications.Parallel convolutions offer an excellent resistance to vibrations, thermal dilatation andimpulse.

Temperature range (SS innercore): - 268°C + 455°C (- 450°F + 850°F).Temperature range (Inconel innercore): - 268°C + 648°C (- 450°F + 1200°F).

Series 245 has approximately 25% more convolutions per inch providing greaterflexibility. This design is also used for double braid hose configurations to attain higherpressure ratings.

Hose Construction

- Innercore : Annular convoluted type 321 stainless steel, thin elongated welded tubingwall, it also exists in inconel. - Reinforcement : Type 321 stainless steel wire braid.- Fittings : Standard methods of fitting attachment is gas Tungsten arc welding (typeB2). All pressure data are based upon constant pressure at temperature shown in the data-sheet. Data based upon test, not theoretical calculated values.

Minimum bend radii are given for both static and constant flexing conditions. Staticbend is the smallest radius in which a hose should be bent upon installation. Exceedingthis value can cause permanent deformations of convolutions.

Bend radius is the minimum radius to which an assembly may be subjected with repea-ted flexing.

Maximum test pressure is the highest recommended value for proof pressure tests.These values are established at pressure levels in which stresses will begin to induce per-manent deformation of convolutions.If maximum test values are exceeded flexibilty will be reduced.

The Flametite** FG tubular fire sleeve is composed of braided fiberglass tubing overwhich is extruded a uniform layer of specially compounded silcone material. This Sleeveis conform to SAE standard AS 1072.

The Flametite** FG fire sleeve on Titeflex Teflon hose assemblies in 130 , 240, 370400/410, 480 and 660 Series offers performance that exceeds the most stringent requi-rements of TSO-C53a, TSO-C75 & AS 1055 15 minutes at 1100°C.

FLAMETITE FIRE SLEEVE

Flametite** fire proof sleevesovermolded, type RF, RM

The FIametite** RF and RM fire proof over-molded sleeves result from the extrusion ofa silicone composite on the hose. Each type of sleeve corresponds to an FAA or AS 1055standard (see page 95).The silicone sleeve, type RF is separated from the hose and peeled back. Then, whencrimping and final check are completed, it is stuck back on the hose with the swagingcollar previously coated with silicone.The silicone sleeve, type RM can be removed from the hose in the crimping area, thenwhen crimping and final check are completed, the stripped area is covered with anover-molded silicone sleeve.

Main characteristics:

• Provides constant and stable diameter for coupling fastening.

• Light weight.

• Acts as vibration dampener.

• Adherence to the hose provides even bending and sustained flexibility.

• Excellent resistance to abrasion.

• Operating temperature : - 54°C to +232°C or +204°C depending of the hose.

• Avoids using clamps for holding sleeve.

• Good resistance to fluids.

• Non age sensitive.

Flametite** Helicoid fire proof sleeves

For repairs by the user, Titeflex can provide fire proof sleeves in the form of helix madeof three layers of glass fiber coated with composite silicone. These sleeves are qualifiedaccording to the most stringent criteria of TSO-C53, TSO-C75 and AS1055 which requi-re 15 minutes resistance to fire with a flow rate of 1 x I.D.2 (GPM)+.This type of sleeve can very often be used without removing the fire sleeve damaged.The sleeve is designed for guaranteeing an even outside diameter after installation.These sleeves can also be used on various equipment such as rigid metal tubes and elec-tric harness.

Chafe SleevesTiteflex RP

RP integral sleeve consists of polyester yarns directly braided on the hose, which pro-vides excellent cohesion with the outer braid.

Main characteristics:

• Provides one of the best antiwear protections.

• Resists to solvents, fuels, hydraulic fluids, aeronautic anti corrosion paints andcleaning detergents.

• Provides even diameter when fastening.

• Operating temperature: - 54°C +150°C.

• Resists to aging.

• Fire retardant, does not drip.

• Avoids using a clamp for holding the sleeve.

• Does not affect hose flexibility.

Anti-abrasion heat shrinkable sleeves

When the use of a thin sleeve tightened to the pipe is required, Titeflex proposes heatshrinkable sleeves made of polyolefin or Teflon*. These sleeves are slipped onto the hoseassembly then shrinked. Note that the use of these sleeves may reduce hose flexibility,so when maximum flexibility is the objective, it is recommended to use hoses coveredwith integral anti abrasion RP sleeves.

Anti-abrasion tubular sleeves

Teflon* : These sleeves are totally inert to all on-board fluids (fuel, lubricants...). Theyoffer good protection against friction at temperatures up to +232° C.

Neopren : These sleeves are « blown » on the pipe and held in place with clamps.Neopren is recommended for ground applications. The operating temperature is -54°C+121° C.

Vinyl : These plastic sleeves are used for reduced temperature range (-54°C +121°C).
