Where Do You Place Your Focus?
Focus affects how I view and operate in the
world:
Gain awareness of what I focus on.
Where I place my focus is what I create.
Create Extraordinary!
Categories of Problems
Direct Control
Problems that involve my own behavior.
Areas in which my choices or actions have direct
impact on outcome or results.
Indirect Control
Problems that involve other people’s behaviors. I
may or may not have influence over these people.
No Control
Problems we can do nothing about such as our past
or situational realities.
Addressing Direct Control Problems
What can I directly
control moment to
moment, and be
personally
accountable for?
Apply Notice-
Adjust –Evolve, etc.
Circle of Influence
Addressing Indirect Control Problems
Choose influential approaches in my relationships, environment, communication and connection.
Walk my talk, build consensus, gain empathy, change perspectives, etc.
Circle of Influence
Addressing No Control Problems
Accept the problem and learn to live with it. Do not empower the problem so that it has control over us.
Changing the way we see our “no control” problem is in our Circle of Influence. It is CHOICE.

Questions to Ponder …
Can we learn to accept those
things we can’t change?
Can we find the courage to take
responsibility for the changes we
can make in ourselves and in our
relationships?
Can we grow in our wisdom and
strive to do our very best to create
a balanced and meaningful life?
Serenity Prayer
“God grant me the
serenity to accept the things that
I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the
difference. “
