Learner pre-requisites: Prior to undertaking the applicable qualification units,

equipment in dwellings.
Who is this qualification for?
Those who want to become a Qualified Supervisor responsible for electrical work in domestic properties
subject to Part P of the Building Regulations.
Those who carry out electrical work for their main work activity, and wish to be nominated as a ‘Qualified
Supervisor’ with a Competent Persons Scheme. Registration with such a scheme will enable self certification
of domestic electrical installation work to the Building Regulations.
This qualification is not intended for learners who have no previous electrical experience.
Note: A learner may wish to undertake the EAL Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical
Installations (QCF) to facilitate progression to becoming a Qualified Supervisor.

A single QCF unit ‘Approval and Certification of Electrical Installations in Dwellings’ covering inspection, testing and
applicable building regulations.
What is this qualification?
This qualification is applicable to those individuals who already hold a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing
Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (QCF) and wish to progress to
become a Qualified Supervisor responsible for electrical work in domestic properties subject to Part P of the Building
Regulations.

Also facilitates progression to becoming a Qualified Supervisor (competent person scheme).
How is the qualification delivered?
The qualification can be delivered in the workplace and at a training facility, or the workplace only.
How is the qualification assessed?
The assessment of this qualification involves the following aspects:
Knowledge learning outcomes have on–screen exams OR for learners that have in excess of 24 months
experience, there is the option to be assessed by knowledge based professional discussion.
Performance learning outcomes require occupational evidence OR for learners that have in excess of 24 months
experience, there is the option to be assessed from evidence of competence from prior achievements and
supplementary questioning.
