Background;

In 2009, the Leaders of APEC welcomed the Supply Chain Connectivity Framework, which has identified eight chokepoints in regional supply chains and suggested actions to address these chokepoints. At the same time, they welcomed the commitment from Transport Ministers to achieve greater seamlessness in our multi-modal transport networks and called for officials to continue cohesive efforts towards improving supply chain connectivity. This project directly responds to their direction.

Background (continued);

In 2010, CTI formalized the APEC Supply-Chain Connectivity Framework and developed Action Plans to address each of the 8 chokepoints. This project proposal makes part of the Action Plan for Chokepoint 6 ”Underdeveloped multi-modal transport capabilities; inefficient air, land, and multimodal connectivity”

Objectives;

This project seeks to achieve enhancement of supply chain connectivity focusing on ports through using information and communication technology which can automatically and in real time share information on the movement and status of maritime containers between logistics enterprises, ports and shippers under the Supply Chain Connectivity Framework.

Project Proposal;

In order to promote supply chain visibility, JAPAN propose for MEG to hold a workshop to advance information sharing regarding methodology to enhance visibility of maritime container transport among APEC economies.
