Tivoli Workload Automation for SAP in four modules
TWS Solution
The integration covers the whole lifecycle of workload, from
design to running and optimisation.
Each topic is feature-rich and has deep interaction with SAP
system.

TWA for SAP : Editing and linking Job editing and linking
Creation of Jobs on SAP from TDWC• Definitions and Preservation of all SAP job attributes • SAP variant maintenance through GUI• Placeholders, replaced at runtime• Return code customization• Delete of SAP jobs defined into SAP system
Support for Business Information Warehouse objects• InfoPackages• Process Chains
Information migration• Import SAP calendars into TWS• Extract all jobs from a SAP server and jump-start workload preparation
Idea: Prepare business workflows running on SAP reusing elements present
on the SAP server.

TWA for SAP : Launching and Tracking
Tracking of child jobs• Vizualise log• Kill of running SAP jobs and associated childs
Visualize job graphs, impact views, filtered lists, dashboards
Consult details of Business Information objects• Display process chains• Restart process chains from failure point
Exploit advanced SAP login architectures• SAP Logon Group support• Prepare jobs on Server Groups
Idea: Automated launching on SAP and global tracking of workload progress

TWA for SAP : Monitoring events
Totally integrated into standard TWS Event Management
Sense for numerous event types• SAP base events• IDOC traffic• CCMS events• Other SAP-related Tivoli events (ITM)
Attach SAP and non-SAP reactions• Ticketing escalation, SAP resource manipulation
Idea: Be aware of important events happening inside SAP and react

TWA for SAP : Performance and Governance
Integrated into standard TWS SLA Management
Interception of irregular Jobs• Resubmission of blocked jobs according to policy• Enforce policies to users
Enhance throughput with throttling• Just-In-Time SAP job submission• Keep the optimal working point• Important job preemption
Environment promotion on large scale• Move sets of jobs• Recreate automatically variants
Idea: Apply policies to environments, preserve and ensure good throughput

TWS-SAP integration : Recent enhancements at a glance
Announced in May 2012, IBM® Tivoli® Workload Scheduler for Applications V8.6 include:Enhanced SAP management New management of InfoSphere® DataStage® , Cognos® , Informatica, and SAP Process Integration (PI) channels
Compliance with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Publication 140-2, which is a government computer security standard to accredit cryptographic modules.
SAP management is simplified with improved efficiency : Key enhancements include • SAP eXternal Interface for Job Background Processing (SAP XBP) 3.0 Interface Certification• Streamlined procedure for the use in SAP job creation• Management of SAP jobs through pick lists from within the Dynamic Workload Console (for both IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler and IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS )
• Automation of SAP Process Integration (PI) communication channels through the definition of IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler jobs.
Highlight on the new XBP 3.0 SAP interception feature• SAP job interception is a feature provided by SAP to control the background job workload submitted by SAP users.
• Jobs which match the interception criteria are blocked (intercepted).• External schedulers like TWS can take control over intercepted SAP jobs and release them in a timeframe with less workload.

Introduction to the demoNew XBP 3.0 SAP job interception feature
The video shows how to integrate the new XBP 3.0 SAP job interception feature into Tivoli Workload Scheduler using the Tivoli Dynamic Workload Console:
1)Create a new SAP job interception profile Define the profile and assign the job matching criteria to intercept SAP jobs using complex include / exclude lists.
2)Activate the interception profile Activation of the interception profile enables the SAP backend system to intercept SAP jobs which match the active
criteria.
3)Define the job interception relaunch criteria Intercepted jobs can be controlled from Tivoli Workload Scheduler with a TWS job, the job interception relaunch
collector job. Use the job interception relaunch criteria to define which intercepted SAP jobs has to be relaunched during the
collector run.
4)A new SAP background job was submitted manually by a SAP user This SAP job matches the interception criteria on SAP and is expected to generate huge workload which is not
acceptable right now.
5)Run the job interception collector job as a TWS job The job interception collector, here running as an ad hoc job, reads the TWS relaunch criterion and compares them
against intercepted jobs on SAP. If the criteria matches, the SAP job is relaunched on SAP and monitored inside TWS. In production systems, this job is
part of the production plan.
