Teen LettersAs a part of their experience at TLC we ask that you as parents getinvolved! We would like for you to write a heartfelt letter to your teen thatthey will be able to read while at TLC. This letter can include anything thatyou want, but I have included some guidelines below if you need them. These can be written from both parents or each can write their separate

ideas and feelings if they wish.

Guidelines Mention what you think about their decision to attend TLC. If they are

a visible leader then you may encourage them to continue on anddescribe things you noticed them doing as a leader.

If they are going as an attempt to begin their leadership role at WestSide, tell them how proud you are of that decision. Describe some

talents that you see in them and how they could use those in their roleas a leader.

You can also mention ways you have already seen them lead that theymay not remember or noticed.

Be encouraging as much as possible!

In the past these letters have made a huge impact on the teens that havereceived them. We often dont take the time to say certain things to our

teens that they desperately need to hear. I will share with you one storyfrom last year.

One of the teens that attended last year had his father pass away suddenlywhile he was at TLC. The TLC letter was one of the last bits ofcommunication he received from his father, encouraging him to stand up forGod and be the man he knew he was. The impact of that moment wasmonumental in the shaping of this young mans life.

Please have all letters handed in by the time we leave. Take this taskseriously and realize the impact it can make. All of the teens will have aletter from mom or dad and I want to make sure they all receive one.

    Youth Group Behavior Guidelines

We understand that as Christians (or as representatives of the church) it is our responsibility to show

Christ to others through our actions. It is even more essential that we do so, when we are gathered as a

group wearing His name. Because of this, we commit ourselves to the following while on this event (#1

    for parents #2-11 for teens):

    1. I (We) give the sponsors on this trip the right to correct and discipline my (our) child for

behavior which is deemed inappropriate in order to promote a good atmosphere for all

    involved.

    2. I will not have alcoholic beverages of any kind in my possession.

    3. I will not drink alcohol in any form.

    4. I will not use or possess any illegal substances.

    5. I will not use or possess any tobacco products.

    6. I will not possess any pornographic materials.

    7. I will not possess anything that is obviously ungodly in nature.

    8. I will not use inappropriate language.

    9. I will dress in appropriate and modest clothing.

    10. I will not purchase or consume energy drinks.

    11. I will act Christ-like in all situations.

If suspicion of any of the above occurs, I give permission for an adult sponsor to search my person, my

room, my luggage and/or my personal belongings.

If I am found to be in violation of the above rules, I understand that:

    1. As a teen, I will be asked to go home at my parents' expense.

    2. As a parent, I agree to bear the expense for my teen to come home.

These guidelines are provided to insure safety and enjoyment for our entire youth group as well

as to show Christ to others in a positive light.
