Terry L. CzechowskyjManaging Partner, Miles Davison LLPTerry Czechowskyj is a managing partner of the firm. He practices primarily ininsolvency matters and corporate commercial litigation. Throughout his career Mr. Czechowskyj has provided advice and representation to receivers, trustees inbankruptcy, creditors and financial institutions. He has in excess of 50 reportedtrial and appeal decisions, involving a broad scope of commercial and insolvencymaters. Murray D’AngeloVice President, National Bank of CanadaMurray D’Angelo is Vice President, Personal Commercial Banking, Western Canada for National Bank of Canada. In this capacity, Mr. D’Angelo oversees themarketing and customer service of banking products and services to NationalBank’s customers from Manitoba to B.C. Deryck HelkaaSenior Managing Director, FTI Consulting Canada Inc.Deryck Helkaa is a senior managing director in FTI’s Corporate Finance practiceand is based in Calgary. Mr. Helkaa has over 15 years of restructuring experiencein representing companies, shareholders, creditors, lenders and management inboth formal and out-of-court restructurings.

Mr. Helkaa’s experience comprises a wide variety of industries with a primary focus on real estate and the oil and gas industry, including companies operating in exploration and production, midstream and oilfield services sectors. His experience ranges from private to public companies, including many cross-border cases.

Mr. Helkaa’s engagements include: Acting as the Court appointed Receiver ofArgosy Energy Inc., Solara Exploration Ltd., Trafina Energy Inc. and Action EnergyCorp., all publicly traded oil and gas exploration companies operating inWestern Canada; monitor in the CCAA proceedings of RS Technologies Inc., a manufacturer of utility poles; receiver of Wellpoint Systems Inc., a publiclytraded, oil and gas software design and distribution company with operations in the US, Canada and Europe, which case included both a Canadian receiver-ship filing and a Chapter 15 proceeding in the state of Delaware.

Prior to joining FTI, Mr. Helkaa was a partner of the Transaction and AdvisoryServices group of Ernst & Young.

Kibben JacksonPartner, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLPKibben Jackson is a partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. His practice is in general corporate andcommercial litigation with a focus on insolvency, corporate restructurings andsecured creditor realization. Mr. Jackson has significant insolvency experience inmost areas including forestry, gaming, mining and retail, as well as extensiveexperience in cross-border insolvency proceedings. He has an MBA in Finance and Strategy, and a bachelor’s degree inEconomics. Prior to joining RBC Wayne was self employed operating a financebrokerage and real estate holding company. David E. Gruber Partner, Farris LLP, VancouverDavid Gruber is a Partner and practises in the areas of corporate/commercial litigation, restructuring and insolvency, professional liability and class actions. Hehas appeared regularly in the superior and appellate courts of British Columbiaand Ontario and in the Federal Court, and has acted in several reported cases.As well, David has significant experience in both international and domestic arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution processes, and in negotiatingand advising on dispute settlements. David’s corporate/commercial litigationexperience has encompassed shareholder and partnership disputes (includingoppression claims), breach of contract cases, securities matters and allegationsof breach of fiduciary duty. Bruce W. LeavertonShareholder, Lane Powell PCBruce Leaverton is the chair of the Firm’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ RightsPractice Group. His practice focuses on business finance and restructuring matters, representing borrowers, secured lenders, debtors, creditors’ committees, bankruptcy trustees, indentured trustees, and state and federalcourt receivers. Neil NarfasonSenior Vice President, EY Inc.

Neil Narfason leads corporate restructuring activities in Alberta andSaskatchewan for EY Inc. For over 18 years, he has provided restructuring, insolvency and distress corporate finance services to businesses in financial difficulty across a wide range of industries. Neil has significant experience in theenergy sector and in cross-border and international engagements. His engage-ments include Calpine Canada, SemGroup Canada, Fairmont Resort Properties,EarthFirst Canada, JED Oil, BA Energy, Rock Well Petroleum, Octane Energy Services and Bre-X Resources.He is a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada, a licensed trustee inbankruptcy, a chartered insolvency and restructuring professional, a charteredbusiness valuator and a CA.

David C. NeuPartner, K & L Gates LLP David Neu is a partner in the K & L Gates, Seattle office, where he practices in the area of insolvency and creditor/debtor rights. In his practice, Mr. Neu represents debtors, trustees, committees and asset-purchasers in Chapter 11bankruptcy proceedings and bankruptcy–related litigation as well as creditors inChapter 11, 7, and 13 proceedings. Martin L. PallesonPartner, Gowlings Lafleur Henderson LLPMartin Palleson practices in the areas of general commercial litigation, with an emphasis on insolvency and restructuring disputes. Mr. Palleson also hassignificant experience in franchise, construction, and insurance litigation as wellas environmental/natural resource law, and aboriginal law.

Mr. Palleson has appeared frequently at all levels of British Columbia andFederal Courts, and has experience in alternative dispute resolution, includingmediation and arbitration. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1986,and has been practising law for 25 years. He obtained his L.L.B. from theUniversity of British Columbia in 1985, and was awarded the Gold Medal forachieving the highest marks in his class. Hannah SchmidtHamstreet & AssociatesMs. Schmidt has contributed to several engagements since starting to work for Hamstreet & Associates in 2009. She specializes in preparing financial projections that aid in developing turnaround strategies and preparing detailedcash budgets to help manage limited funds. Ms. Schmidt has worked extensivelywith companies in Chapter 11, assisting in all stages of that process—frompreparing the initial schedules for filing, to compiling complex claims and distribution information, to negotiating settlements for past due state and local taxes.

Ms. Schmidt began her career as an audit manager in a public accountingfirm where she was responsible for planning, directing, and completing attestation and compliance engagements with both business and governmentalentities. Her public sector clients included cities, counties, and housing authorities, while her business experience ranged across a variety of industrieswith an emphasis in manufacturing and hospitality.

Ms. Schmidt received a Masters Degree in Accounting from Hendrix College,and is a licensed certified public accountant. Ms. Schmidt graduated MagnaCum Laude from Hendrix College, receiving her BA in Economics and Businesswith distinction.

Dean ShillingtonPresident, Maynards CapitalDean Shillington is the President of Maynards Capital and has over two decadesof experience in sales and commercial finance. A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan business school majoring in finance and marketing, Deanspent several years at a major international financial institution specializing inequipment and property finance where he excelled in numerous managementpositions in business and credit.
