tmrc Tech Model Railroad Club of MIT http://tmrc.mit.edu - [email protected] Our activities center on the construction of an HO-scale model railroad, and the electronics and software needed to operate everything. Our layout has over 600 feet of track, much of it hand-laid, and is loosely based on the Boston and Albany railroad, with scenery appropriate for a railroad through Massachusetts, though in general we do not rigorously model real-world locations or structures. Our layout is controlled by an automatic-progressive-cab-control system of our own design, the third such system in the clubs history, and the first to be fully computer-controlled. This system was first installed in January 2002, and we continue to refine and extend its capabilities. We have scheduled meetings twice a week when members work on projects, run trains, or just hang out. The club holds two open houses each year, usually in November and April, when we open our doors to the public and show off what we have built. There are about 12 active members, including several alumni members. Our activities center on the construction of an HO-scale model railroad, and the electronics and software needed to operate everything.
