Hi, and welcome to My Pearson Training. I’m Becky, and I’ll be your learning partner during this tutorial. We’ll find out how Tennessee Middle School Interactive Science 2019 will make learning personal, engaging, and relevant for today’s Tennessee students. If you’re anything like me, getting a new science curriculum can feel overwhelming. Where do you start? Let’s begin by learning about the program components and the various pathways. Next, we’ll explore the planning resources and key lesson components because we need to start with the basics, right? Then, we’ll discover differentiation opportunities and assessment and progress-monitoring options. We’ll learn how Interactive Science 2019 supports the Tennessee Academic Standards for Science. Let’s get started!



Program Components and Pathways

You’ve received a kit of books and materials along with a digital subscription to Pearson Realize™. Now what? Let’s look at each of the print and digital program components to see how you can utilize them in instruction for any of the three pathways-reading, digital, and inquiry. You may choose to utilize any of the three pathways or integrate the pathways as needed. Whatever you prefer!



Reading Pathway

Tennessee Academic Standards for Science

Next, let’s look at how this program supports the multidimensional learning of the Tennessee Academic Standards for Science. The customized Tennessee materials reflect and support the unique scope and sequence of the Tennessee Academic Standards for Science. This includes Science and Engineering Practices (or SEPs), Crosscutting Concepts (or CCCs), Disciplinary Core Ideas (or DCIs), and Performance Expectations (or PEs).

• In the Teacher’s Edition, there is one Performance Expectation Activity for each standard. • You can find correlations to the standards in the front matter of the Teacher’s Edition and at point

of use within the Teacher’s Edition, Student Edition, and on Pearson Realize. • A STEM: Science, Engineering, and Technology Skills Handbook supports the Engineering

Standards and reinforces the SEPs.
