WELCOMEto Back to School Night!
Mrs. Crossley - 2nd Grade
About Mrs. Crossley● This is my first year teaching 2nd grade
at Discovery Elementary
● My husband Brian and I have three children who are 9, 6, and 4 years old.
● We have lived in San Marcos since 2005, and I am thrilled to be teaching in this wonderful community.
● I have a B.A. in Communications Studies and a multiple subject teaching credential from CSUSM.
My Teaching Philosophy● Students in Room 13 are a part of a
classroom community. Teamwork and collaboration will be a part of our learning.
● All students must be challenged through high expectations and rigorous academic standards.
● Parents/caregivers and teachers can work as a team to support each student’s learning and development. This way, we can ensure a positive learning experience for each child.
My Teaching StyleStructured but Flexible - Daily Schedule and Routines - Students will have the chance to work in the way that suits their learning style
Differentiated - Students are challenged at their level - Flexible grouping: focused instruction
Community Building - A classroom is like a family - Students will learn to care for and support each other as friends

Classroom Rules
1. Be kind
2. Show respect: to each other, to yourself, and to our things
3. Try your best
4. Don't give up
Behavior PlanPositive Behavior Reinforcement:● Verbal praise
● Positive notes to student and caregivers
● Daily “shout outs” to each other for good choices and good citizenship during our daily closing circle.
● Participation in “Fun Friday”
Negative Behavior Consequences:
● Verbal reminder & retrain on expectations as needed.
● Whenever possible I will apply use natural and logical consequences (e.g., if you make a mess, you help clean it up).
● For more serious, or repeated offenses, students may lose a Dojo point. If a student loses 3 Dojo points for the week, the student will not be allowed to participate in Fun Friday. I will ask the student to complete a reflection sheet on her/his behavior.
● I will contact parents to keep them apprised of more severe behavior issues as needed.
