The morning session -will begin at 10: SO, led by Mrs. Marie Warner Anderson, New York State Martin for Commissioner of Pub- More Than 100,000 Placed in Private Industry in August Through the NYSES AT .BANT/, Sept. 18. — More than 10,000 job placement* were made in private industry during August by the New York State Bmpoly- ment Service- through its lis em- ployment offices throughout the State. Placements in public work or relief jobs totalled 6,207, marking a rise of 114.3 per cent above the July number, but a drop of 15.0 per cent from August 1937, accord- ing to figures made public today by the Bureau of Research and Statistics, Division of Placement and Unemployment Insurance, State Department of L>abor. The State Employment Servic* is a. un'l in that Division. The grand total of all types of placements, private and public, was 16,899. The 10,692 placements in private employment dtiring August showed a rise of 8.0 per cent over the pre- vious month. This increase waa contrary to the seasonal decline than a month — amounted to A little more than one-half of all private placements and showed a 14.3 per cent increase over July, while regular placements those expected to last more than a month — increased 1.6 per cent.
