OTMS

• First go to http://otms.nrhh.org/ • Then on the top left corner click on a link to

submit an OTM • Fill out on screen instructions

– Select General or Program – Select University – Fill out the form

Coordinator– Resident Assistant – Spotlight– Student– Institution Faculty/Staff

• Groups– Residential Community– Organization

Program• Community Service• Diversity• Social• Educational• Passive

Blasting Off!• Think “What Program, Group, or Person

deserves to be recognized?”• Create a list of reasons why the

nominee deserves the OTM– Every reason is a good reason

• Start writing OTM in a Word Processor• SPELL AND GRAMMAR CHECK

– On the computer and proof read thru• Give yourself plenty of time

– Don’t start at 11:30 on the 1st

Outta this World Tips• Be as month specific as possible!

– September OTM = only what happened in September• Word Limit of 600

– Try for 400-600 words• Fill out OTM form completely• Check with others to make sure two people

aren’t writing the same OTM• Spell out your acronyms

– RA = Resident Assistant• Check descriptions to see where your OTM best

fits– Especially Student vs E-Board

Buzz or the alien? • Create a student committee to select

campus winners • Also think about creating an OTM

guideline for deciding winners

Life of an OTM• Submit it to NRHH

– NRHH Recognition Committee chooses winners based on Criteria

• NRHH submits the winning EIU OTM’s to the State level– State Level chooses winners by the Committee

• NRHH submits the winning EIU OTM’s to the Regional Level (GLACURH) – Regional Winners are chosen by their committee

• The Regional level submits their winning OTMS to the National level – National Winners are chosen by their committee

What style to give?• Find out what kind of recognition those

around you would want or like• Know if someone doesn’t like a certain

type, they may not see is as recognition– Ex: Giving a hug to someone who doesn’t

liked to be touched
