Dear Parents & Carers,
BOOK WEEK PARADE All students from P-6 are encouraged to come to school dressed as their favourite book character tomorrow (Friday 23 August). The parade will start promptly at 8.50am, so please ensure you are on time to join in the fun. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes from each class. UPCOMING EVENTS Friday 30 August: Father’s Day Stall (see Aveen’s item on page 3 of this newsletter. Helpers need to assist with the stall.
Friday 13 September: Fun Friday! The inflatable fun starts at 2.30pm and goes until 5.30pm and is open to all NASS students and families. See Aveen’s item on page 3 for more details. Helpers needed to assist with the catering on the night.
Thursday 19 September: Dance Fever Parent Performance (5.00-7.30pm) This is our students’ chance to showcase all of their amazing new skills, confidence and dance etiquette as a result of this term’s Dance Fever program. They have been working very hard to learn the Fox Trot, Cha Cha, a cultural dance and a hip hop dance and can’t wait to show you what they can do!
Entry is FREE and a basic food and drink will be available for purchase. (NB This is an alcohol-free event). Please book the date into your diaries and spread the word to your families and friends! Helpers needed to assist with the catering on the night.
Saturday 21 September: Bunnings Sausage Sizzle (Noosa Bunnings). See Aveen’s item on page 3 for details and consider coming along to help out. 2020 CURRICULUM ENRICHMENT PROGRAM: SURVEY RESULTS Many thanks to the 106 families and staff who completed the surveys about next year’s programs. 43% respondents is a great return rate and therefore, the results are valid and reliable.
Summary of results:
100 respondents want to continue the programs in 2020, 6 don’t
The most popular programs (in order): Wellbeing, Gym, Dance
4% want no programs next year, 43% want 1 or 2 programs next year, 53% want 3 or 4 programs next year
2% did not want the SAKG program to continue in 2020, 87% did, and that question was not applicable to 11% of respondents
Therefore: Wellbeing, Dance, Gym and SAKG programs will continue in 2020, with parents paying (and the school subsidizing the SAKG program).
Kind Regards,
Kelly

SPORTS NEWS Hi All, A huge
to Mr Mclntosh (6TL Teacher) who coached the Queensland U12's Basketball Team to a National Championship last week which was held in Bendigo. Mr Mac's Queensland Team defeated Victoria 63 - 40 in the Gold Medal final. Mr Mac is the first rookie coach to win the National Championship in 18 years. A fantastic effort as generally it's extremely difficult to beat Victoria who have won 24 National titles compared to the second closest Queensland who have won 5 since the Championships started. The Queensland appointment and this great win is a fantastic reward for Mr Mac and his commitment to Primary schools basketball having coached at Regional level for many years.
INTERSCHOOL SPORT Good luck to all of our Year 5 and 6 students who are participating in their chosen Interschool sport this Friday. Students will participate in Interschool sport for four consecutive Fridays with and against all schools in the Nambour District. It should be a great experience for our students, and one that they are all very much looking forward to. Mr Mckie P & C NEWS YANDINA STREET FAIR A massive thank you to Summer for organising the Stall and the many volunteers who helped make it a success. It was a great opportunity to showcase the school to the local community especially when the Marimba Band were rocking the stage.

DISABLED PARKING ZONE
We try to teach our children to respect others in our school, and it is imperative that adults do likewise. We appeal to all parents and carers to respect our Disabled Parking Zone and not use it as a drop off zone. We have genuinely disabled parents and visitors to the school who rely on easy access, so please do not park in this zone unless you hold an official Disability Parking Permit.

SHORT TERM PARKING
AT THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL
We have had a number of complaints that parents/carers are not using the ‘Stop, Drop, Go’ zone appropriately. If you do wish to access the zone, make sure you keep moving forward in the queue so that the area is not blocked by your vehicle.
Don’t get caught doing nothing next school holidays. Join an SU QLD Camp and have the time of your life!
