TODAY’S EXCITEMENT AT THE SELANGOR SMART CITY & DIGITAL ECONOMY CONVENTIONWith AI, 5G and Gaming, the Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention revolves around empowering youths with tomorrow’s innovations. The recent line-up of programmes and activities include the AI & 5G Conference, Anime & Gaming Festival, Malaysia’s Top E-Commerce Merchant Awards 2019, e-sports competitions and many more exhilarating activities.

Exhibiting more than 80 international and local animation and gaming companies, with international prominent speakers who covered intriguing topics such as “A comparison between Southeast Asian and China Games”, “Role of Computer Graphic artists in Anime and Game Development”, and “Why Malaysia is the Hub of Games and Animation?”, just to name a few.

The exciting Mascot Design Exhibition, held its opening ceremony yesterday, officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Mohd Khairuddin Bin Othman, Ahli Dewan Negeri Paya Jaras. This exhibition has been featuring creative talents and showcasing artistic mascot designs and it is definitely something not to miss out.

Prominent speakers, interesting topics, and exciting exhibition is just the beginning, as this convention just launched the anticipated One Belt One Road

Anime & Gaming Summit and with this rising trend of cosplaying and e-sports in Malaysia, it would an ideal platform for our local enthusiast and talent to witness and participate in this summit.

Under this gaming summit, Invest Selangor has the honour to have special guest speakers such as Alex Yoong, the first F1 racer representing Malaysia, paired with Leona Chin, our local rising star representing female professional racer in Malaysia. They provided their professional insights about the motorsport industry; and being inspired by this session, the audience’s experience were enhanced by having the opportunity to try out the exciting racing simulator at this convention.

With the trending integration of virtual reality (VR), there are various VR games to explore and experience first-hand, from the space shooting to the upbeat music game, just to name a few.

Exhibitor’s Profile

A start-up from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia focusing on integrating education with technology to make learning fun. The Warna augmented reality (AR) application created their own unique children coloring book filled with all types of interesting activities from colouring, puzzles, to spelling. Using this AR application, the learning process for children is enhanced by just scanning the animal in the colouring book and it will come to live in an 3D augmented form. Children will be able to interact with the augmented 3D animal coloured by themselves where the advance visual is paired with audio to teach the children how to pronounce the name. Having such innovative technology integrated with education, this paves a limitless boarder to learn interactively.

Living in a fast paced environment, especially in the corporate sectors the invention of Water Buzzer is to give a friendly reminder for people to stay hydrated everyday despite their busy schedules. It was amazing to see Marcus and Phoebe, both young aspiring inventors who create this innovative product. Having the younger generation to be concerned about the well-being of others out there, and make a change by simply putting effort into creating this special bottle which would be able to detect the presence of water and the alarm integrated with the bottle will start buzzing. This international expo shows that it is a suitable platform for both young and experienced inventors.

Finding solutions for a better safer and smarter way to manage the drainage system, Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam created an innovative drainage cover called Composite Porous Concrete Slab (C.P.C – Slab), this drainage cover is made up of biodegradable materials called composite porous concreate from the rice husk ash; with this material it will filter the drainage water, prevent flash floods, increase the drainage cover durability, overall increase road user safety. There we many business partners who were interested in exploring further possibilities of this product.

Universal Compress Air Fit is a start-up from Universiti Tenaga Nasional, which have a sole focus to produce green energy with green technology to naturally convert air into hot and cold air with using any chemicals. Their target market is to provide an alternative technology and innovation for the automotive as well as oil and gas manifesting industry; this enables the manufacturers to integrate chemical free practices in to production process. With the rising of local green innovations, this expo would be able to provide international markets to be part of this effort.
