I thank You, My heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger. Keep me this day also, from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. Into Your hands I commend my body and soul and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the wicked foe may have no power over me. Amen!

Today’s order of worship is based on an ancient prayer service which was conducted at the break of day. This worship service focuses on praise, prayer and preaching. As we worship the Lord, we receive the new day as a gift from God’s hand with praise, thanksgiving and intercession. The petitions of this worship service seek God’s blessing, protection and guidance as the Christian prepares for the duties of the day. May the Lord richly bless your worship here this morning!

Welcome to Faith Lutheran Church! It is an honor and a privilege for us to have you here and to serve you with the Word of God. We pray that our time together may build each of us up in faith in Jesus Christ and encourage us in our service to Him in our lives.

In this bulletin you will find the order of worship we will use today. There is also an insert with more details about the service and announcements. Please take the insert home with you and leave this bulletin here to be used again.

The hymns we will sing today will all be on the screen. If you would like to see the music, you can follow along in Christian Worship, the red hymnal in your pew. See the board in the front of the church for the hymn numbers.

We are thrilled to have your little ones in church; Jesus Himself said “Let the little children come to me.” We understand that those little ones can become unruly. If you find it necessary to step out momentarily, you can follow the service on the TV in the fellowship hall.

Alive in Christ to share life in Christ

4 Lord, You consoled Your Son in His anguish and released Him from the darkness of the

grave. Turn Your face toward us that we may live in Your light and Your peace through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen!

23 Lord Jesus Christ, Shepherd of the Church, in the waters of Baptism You have given us

new life and at Your table You nourish us with the food of salvation. Lead us along safe paths through the darkness of this world, dispel the terrors of death, and bring us at last to Your house, where You dwell with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen!

27 Gracious Father, You have been the Light and Salvation of Your people in every age.

Bring us, we pray, through the troubles of this present life, that we may see Your goodness in eternity, through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!

31 God, our Rock and Fortress, protect Your people who confess Your name, and

strengthen the hearts of those who trust Your mercy, that they may proclaim Your goodness and praise You for Your unfailing love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!

34 Dearest Lord, Helper of the weary and the brokenhearted, we have tasted and seen that

You are good and ready to help in time of trouble. Calm our minds with peace and make us radiant with joy, through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!

121 Lord God, You never slumber nor sleep, but Your eyes are always open to our needs.

Watch over our welfare on this perilous journey, shade us from the dangers that surround us and keep us safe from harm, through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen!

130 God of might and compassion, open Your ears to the prayers of Your people who wait

for You. Do not leave us in the depths of our sins, but listen to Your Church pleading for the fullness of Your redemption, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!

134 Lord Jesus, where two or three gather together in Your name, You promised to be with

them and share their fellowship. Look on us, Your family, and graciously bless us with unity and harmony, for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen!

1. O God, You are my God; for You I long; for You my soul is thirsting. My body pines for You like a dry, weary land without water. So I gaze on You in the sanctuary to see Your strength and Your glory. Refrain

2. For Your love is better than life, my lips will speak Your praise. So I will bless You all my life, in Your name I will lift up my hands. My soul shall be filled as with a banquet, my mouth shall praise You with joy. Refrain

3. On my bed I remember You. On You I muse through the night, for You have been my help; in the shadow of Your wings I rejoice. My soul clings to You; Your right hand holds me fast. Refrain

℗ Our help is in the name of the Lord,

© Who made Heaven and earth.

℗ If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?

© But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared.

℗ Since we are gathered to hear God’s Word, to call upon Him in prayer and praise, let us first consider our unworthiness and confess before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word and deed. We cannot free ourselves from our sinful condition. Together as His people, let us take refuge in the infinite mercy of God, our Heavenly Father, seeking His grace for the sake of Christ, and saying: God, be merciful to me, a sinner.

© Almighty God, have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and lead us to everlasting life. Amen!

2

℗ God Almighty, in His mercy, has given His Son to die for you and—for His sake—forgives you all your sins. Therefore, as a called servant of Christ and by His authority, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son (†) and of the Holy Spirit.

© Amen!

One way that the members of Faith worship God is by giving generous monetary offerings to thank Him for His many blessings. If you are visiting and would like to participate in the offering, feel free to do so. But please do not feel that you are obligated to contribute; you are our guest. We thank you for the opportunity to share God’s Word with you!

Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are Yours now and forever. Amen!

The Pastor ℗ sings the prayer. The congregation © sings “Amen.” O Lord, our Heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God,

You have brought us safely to this new day. Defend us with Your mighty power,

and grant that this day we neither fall into sin nor run into any kind of danger;

and in all we do, direct us to what is right in Your sight, through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord.

Father of the Heavenly lights, give us grace so that we may cast away our works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Help us now to believe and do the things you have taught us so that we may live in Your light and walk in Your truth. Grant that all who have heard Your Word today may continue in that truth until the end and appear in Your glorious presence to receive the radiant crown that will never fade away, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen!

Lord Jesus, today all Christendom celebrates the day on which You rose from the dead. You, Who are the Light to lighten the darkness, let the sun of Your mercy rise upon all the worship services of Your people. Grant that Your Word may be rightly preached with power from the Holy Spirit and without fear from those who oppose it. May Your Word work powerfully in my heart as well. Graciously grant that it would serve as a lamp to my feet and a light for my path so that I, in turn, may reflect the light of Your glory in the world. Hear me, Lord Jesus, for Your name’s sake. Amen!
