Today’s Lesson (1)We are going to:

• Learn to focus and use our imagination• Use freeze frame to represent images from the

Hobbledown book

Page 2: Today’s Lesson (1)

What’s the focus? You have been given a picture. In groups decide on what the focus of the picture is and what is happening/could be happening in your picture?

Discuss this within your group.

Page 3: Today’s Lesson (1)

Freeze FrameIn groups produce freeze frames of what you think happens next in your picture.

This can be one freeze frame or a series of frames.

These frames will be performed to the class.

Audience should give feedback after each performance.

What have you found difficult during this lesson?

What have you enjoyed most about this lesson?

What will you do differently in the next lesson?

Todays Lesson (2)We are going to:

• Create a role for a character who lives in ‘Nonsuch’• Adapt that role based on feedback from the class• Start a story based on these characters

Page 6: Today’s Lesson (1)

‘Nonsuch’Nonsuch is another place like Hobbledown that is connected to Potenesia.

Remember Potenesia is the original home of the ‘Hobblers’

Nonsuch, like Hobbledown is joined to Potenesia by a series of tunnels.

Page 7: Today’s Lesson (1)

‘Nonsuch’Close your eyes and imagine what Nonsuch is like. What can you see, hear and smell.

Share these ideas in a group

Now create characters for your Nonsuch.

Each student will tell the class about their character maybe even including a name.

Page 8: Today’s Lesson (1)

‘Nonsuch’Now lets think of a story we can make using these characters and set it in ‘Nonsuch’.

In groups start brainstorming ideas about characters and the setting ‘Nonsuch’.You can change (adapt) your characters. You will also need to decide on one setting for the whole group.

• Whose will you use? • Will you take bits from one and bits from another?

Todays Lesson (3)We are going to:

• Use the characters from the last lesson to create a story / play.

• Write this story down (create a script)• Recap narration learnt in KS1

Page 11: Today’s Lesson (1)

‘Scripting’What is scripting? Why it is important? Everyone has to script the first 10-20 seconds of their play.Scripting is when we write down what each character says.

• Why would this be useful?• Others could do the play• Won’t forget the words• Others can stand in

if someone is sick

Page 12: Today’s Lesson (1)

The performanceWhen the work is performed everyone should be able to make one comment on it. (I may ask you for a comment after a performance)

Has anyone used a narrator?

If not why not?

What is narration?
