Statement of Acknowledgement of Traditional LandWe wish to acknowledge this land on which the University of Toronto operates. For thousands of year it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peope from across Turtle island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
Your application is in. It’s time to preview
YOUR FUTUREYou’re just a few steps away from beginning your educational experience, so what’s next? We will send you information about everything from financing your education to enrolling in courses. Keep an eye out for emails and documents on JOIN U of T. To get you started, here are the answers to some of the most common questions students have after they apply.
WHEN WILL I GET A DECISION ON MY APPLICATION?
We send offers of admission to current Ontario high school students in February, March and May. If you applied by the deadline and haven’t received an admission decision yet, don’t worry! We send out the majority of our offers in March and May. You will have an application decision by the end of May.
If you applied using the 105 OUAC application form (non-Ontario high school and international applicants), offers are sent throughout the year. Be sure to check your application status through the JOIN U of T portal to make sure that your application is complete. Notices are typically sent out 6–8 weeks after your application is complete.
If you do receive an offer of admission, don’t forget to accept it! Follow the instructions on JOIN U of T and reply by the deadline outlined in your offer letter.
I ACCEPTED MY OFFER; WHEN DO I REGISTER FOR COURSES AND PAY TUITION?
All incoming first-year students register for courses in early July. We will send you information about your course enrolment date and time. The deadline for paying first-year tuition is in mid-August. After you register for your courses in July, your tuition invoice and payment instructions will become available for you to access.
I APPLIED TO LIFE SCIENCES, BUT I’M ALSO INTERESTED IN STUDYING OTHER SUBJECTS. CAN I TAKE COURSES IN THESE OTHER AREAS TOO?
You may have decided to study a specific program, but you can actually combine programs at U of T Scarborough to suit your academic interests! Your U of T degree can be built in the following ways:
1 SPECIALIST or 2 MAJORS or 1 MAJOR + 2 MINORS
A SPECIALIST program provides you with an in-depth and focused understanding of a subject area. A specialist program satisfies 12–16 credits, depending on the program.
A MAJOR program develops a concentrated understanding within an academic field. A major program satisfies 7–9 credits, and must be combined with another major program or two minors
A MINOR program helps you di-versify your academic portfolio. It introduces you to a subject area and allows you to augment skills from other fields. Minor programs satisfy 4–5 credits.
WHICH COURSES SHOULD I TAKE IN MY FIRST YEAR?
Visit our Program Information Fairs today to find out! Representatives from each program can give you first-year course lists to guide you. After accepting your offer, we encourage you to attend the “Get Started” event — a full-day academic orientation that will help you plan for a successful first year.
