3 Toledo courses and communities

When you click on a course (or community) on the homepage, you are accessing a webpage containing all information for a specific course. Most times you are transferred to the ‘Announcements’ tab of the course, as can be seen in figure 4.

On the left of the screen, you can find a menu with some buttons like ‘Contacts’ and ‘Course Documents’. Below you will get some information about the most frequently used buttons. Note that every staff member is free to rename these buttons, delete them, create new ones and to decide where to put certain information.

Click on the homepage icon to go back to the homepage of Toledo.

1) AnnouncementsThis button will take you to the ‘Announcements’ page. Here, instructors can publish important messages that are relevant to all course participants. Examples: auditorium has changed for next lecture, the deadline for the second paper is published under ‘Assignments’.

2) Staff information Here you can find the coordinates of instructors and teaching assistants belonging to the course

3) Course DocumentsThis is where instructors store documents and files belonging to the course, such as the course text, copies, slides and audiovisual material.

4) AssignmentsYou can access the tasks and tests with this button. Often this is also where you can find the link to the electronic test environment. It is however also possible that tests and tasks are placed somewhere else (e.g. in Course Documents).

5) Discussion BoardCertain courses use a discussion board, where you can post and read messages about a certain topic.

4 How to enroll and unenroll manually?

4.1 Manual enrollment

Attention: The enrolment module does NOT replace your administrative subscription for a course component. This application does NOT SUBSTITUTE the ISP registration.

When you are not officially registered yet (do so before the deadline!) you can already access the course specific information by enrolling manually for a course.

Guidelines: Log in to Toledo. Go to the ‘Administration’ link and click on ‘Enroll’. Use the search option to find a course. You can use the facets on the left to refine your search results.

Figure 5: Manual enrolment: searching for the course

Once you have found the course, click on ‘Enroll’ to enroll yourself manually. Make sure that the course number is correct and that you select the course from this academic year, and not last year’s course.

Figure 6: Manual Enrolment: selecting the right course

Remark: by default all Toledo courses are open for manual enrollment through the enrollment module for staff and students. However, instructors can close their courses and communities so that only students of the study program the course belongs to, or sometimes even nobody, can enroll through the enrollment module. When you are not allowed to enroll, the enroll button will display the text ‘Closed’. If this is the case, contact the instructor after the lecture or by email and ask him/her if he/she wants to enroll you.

When a course or community is unavailable on the homepage (thus the course is presented in gray), this means that you are enrolled correctly, but the instructor has not made the course available for students yet. Only the instructor of a course or community can decide when the content is ready to be made available.

4.2 Manual unenrollment

You can also unenroll yourself for courses.Guidelines: Log in to Toledo. Go to the ‘Administration’ link and click on ‘Unenroll’. Click on the button ‘Unenroll’ next to the course from which you want to be unenrolled.

5 FAQI am not able to find a course in Toledo?Normally your courses automatically appear in Toledo the day after you have saved your courses in your ISP. If not and if you cannot add them yourselves this might be because the professor did not open the course yet. Check with fellow students and eventually ask the professor to open it.

The course code of the course I find in Toledo is different from the one in my ISP/LA?It is possible that a course exists of different course parts with different names

e.g. Business Analysis D0I68A (6ECTS) consists of 2 course parts:Enterprise Analysis D0I68a (3ECTS)Business Process Management D0I89A (3ECTS)

When looking in Toledo for the course Business Analysis you might not find it. You should look under the names of both course parts Enterprise Analysis D0I68a and Business Process Management D0I89A. Always check in the ECTS files for the correct name and code via https://onderwijsaanbod.kuleuven.be/opleidingen/e/index.htm

I do not follow the course anymore but the course is still in Toledo? The student only has access to his/her Toledo. You can add and delete courses. So as long as you do not take out the course you no longer take it will appear in Toledo.

6 Questions or problems? If you have questions or problems, you can look at the info on the tab page ‘Help’ in Toledo. If you cannot find an answer there, you can always contact the ICTS helpdesk:
