WithMicrostepEmulation,systemsthathaveaneedtouselowstepresolutionscanstillprovidesmoothmotion.Thedrivetakesthestepcountandcreatesmicrostepswhicharefedtothemotor.
Asanexample,thiscouldbeusedonaretrofitsystemwherethecontrollerresolutionisfixedatalowvalueandcannoteasilybechanged.
Dynamicsmoothingcansoftentheeffectofimmediatechangesinvelocityanddirection,makingthemotionofthemotorlessjerky.Anaddedadvantageisthatthiscanreducethewearonmechanicalcomponents.
Allstepmotorshaveaninherentlowspeedtorqueripplethatcaneffectthemotionofthemotor.Byanalyzingthistorqueripple,thesystemcanapplyanegativeharmonictonegatethiseffect.Thisgivesthemotormuchsmoothermotionatlowspeed.
Stepmotorstendto“resonate”atsomefrequency.Byenteringsystemdata,thisnaturalfrequencycanbecalculatedandadampingtermenteredintothecontrolalgorithm.Thissignificantlyimprovesthemidrangestabilityandallowsthemotortoachievehigherspeedsandmakemoreuseoftheavailabletorque.
Atstart-up,thedrivemeasuresthemotorparameters,includingtheresistanceandinductance,thenusesthisinformationtooptimizethesystemperformance.Italsocomparesthisinformationfromthelaststart-upandcheckstoseeifthemotordatahaschanged.Thiscouldindicateafaultorsystemchange.Thedrivecanalsodetectopenandshortcircuitsandincorrectmotorwiring.
Withtheadditionofanencoderonthemotorthe DS [STAC6-S] & Si [STAC6-Si] canprovideadditionalfunctions.
•Stall Detect -Thedrivedetectsifthemotorhasstalledandtriggersthefaultoutput.
