Mike Krzyzewski opens the doors to legendary Cameron Indoor Stadium allowing you all access to his practices, drills, plays, philosophy and more! Explore the inner-workings of Krzyzewski's time-tested system of success and learn how you can incorporate it into your program.

This extensive DVD set includes over six hours of world class basketball instruction including two full Duke practices and multiple clinic sessions featuring Krzyzewski and assistant coaches, and former Duke players, Steve Wojciechowski and Chris Collins.

Get an all access pass to two Duke practices! Listen in as Krzyzewski provides a coaching perspective on his practices, what he teaches, why and what he will be looking for during the practices. Throughout the practices Krzyzewski provides priceless wisdom and basketball knowledge as he coaches and teaches his players, and provides coaching points for the drills and concepts he uses.

The Blue Devils run a multitude of half- and full-court drills featuring a variety of game-like situations that build up from 2-on-0 to 5-on-0 drills into an action or set play. Get a look inside Duke's split drills where post players work on various angles for the pick-and-roll and "slips," while perimeter players work on penetrate-and-kick action and shooting on the move.

Moving to the defensive side of the ball, the Blue Devils work on various three-quarter and full-court pressure defenses and off-the-ball defenses.

Page 3: Tom Izzo: Quick Strikes & Warm-Up Drills for Winning ...nav-solutions.com/sites/nyb/NYBBasketballDVDcollection.pdf · Tom Izzo: Quick Strikes & Warm-Up Drills for Winning Basketball

Assistant Coach Steve Wojciechowski explains the importance of early communication and the point of pressure concept as he covers the "Duke Method" of defending ball screens both near the top of the key and on the wing. He demonstrates and teaches the hard show technique, switching and trap techniques in tremendous detail.

Switching to offense, the Blue Devils demonstrate various techniques in breaking 2-2-1, 1-2-2 and 1-2-1-1 full court pressure defenses. Coach K demonstrates the "quick pass" concept and the "catch and face" technique in attacking full court pressure.

Assistant Coach Chris Collins introduces Duke's elbow series, which features set plays that bring the post players above the elbow to allow for great spacing. This opens up the floor for small teams to create mismatches and provides good cutting action and movement.

Every inbounds play is an opportunity to score. With that frame of mind, Collins demonstrates Duke's "Line Series" and "Box Series" of inbounds plays.

Coach K provides you with shooting drills that simulate offensive sets to better teach those sets with game-like movement. You will see how Duke attacks the zone with the post players flashing from behind the zone, and the guards driving into gaps and catching the ball shot ready. He also directs 4- and 6-minute scrimmages where players work on game situations and decision making.

Everything is brought together with nearly 90 minutes of informative "question and answer" sessions that cover topics such as Coach K's experience with the gold medal-winning USA Olympic Basketball team, Duke's method for scouting opponents, advice for young coaches, the best way to teach shooting technique and much more.

This DVD set covers nearly every facet of building a successful basketball program the Duke Blue Devil way.

The High/Low Offense is a great way to get the ball to every player on the court in every location on the court. In an energetic lecture-style setting, Bill Self breaks down the entire High/Low Offense. Self diagrams the basic format of this offense as well as the intricate details he has learned over his 12 seasons coaching it. Beginning in a 1-4 set, Coach Self breaks down every aspect of this offense including entries, options, and variations. He demonstrates the flexibility of the offense by showing how each position is interchangeable-players are not locked into a specific position. The High/Low Offense is hard to scout and can be utilized against any defense. This is a great DVD for learning to install or fine-tune the High Low Offense!

Coach Kent talks about what it takes to develop a great transition team at any level. Kent begins with five variations of a drill to condition your players as they master the Oregon transition offense. Kent then breaks down the Oregon Secondary Break called "Warrior," which allows any player on your team to score from anywhere on the court. He walks you through "Warrior" from the beginning and then provides a glimpse into the Ducks' playbook by demonstrating a few different variations of the Secondary Break. This is the same offensive system that has produced three NCAA tournament appearances, two NIT Final 4 appearances, a PAC-10 Championship, a PAC-10 Tournament title and three NBA First Round Draft Picks. Kent finishes by showing how to use the Secondary Break against a 2-3 zone.

This perimeter play development DVD begins with dribble penetration using the Cheat Step. This step allows players to catch the ball closer to the basket and maintain balance as they drive to the basket. Eleven variations of this drill include the shot, go, fake, counter move, main street, pump fake and power, stride step, baseline sweep, baseline counter, reverse lay-up and power dribble. Another key skill for perimeter development is cutting and comes from the cutter series. This series is beneficial for conditioning and puts pressure on player to make shots. The six cuts demonstrated are Screen/step back, back door cut, down screen, flare screen, pro cut and ball screen. The ability to successfully use ball screens is important for all perimeter players. Shay teaches the following off ball screens: shooting, veer and shoot, shoot behind screen and shots after refusing the screen. Relocating on the perimeter after penetration is known as the Circle back. This important skill demands a series of three drills. To develop ball skills Shay teaches a two ball series that includes 10 unique variations that increases forearm strength, fingertip control and expert ball handling.

Villanova University basketball has reached a new level of excitement under Coach Jay Wright. His attention to detail and repetition allow his teams to compete with the nation's best programs. A strong believer in footwork and balance, Wright consistently incorporates these into every shooting drill as he guides you through the entire shooting progression with this on-court presentation. This DVD is packed with 28 valuable drills that show why Villanova is a dangerous offensive club every year in the powerful Big East. Using warm-up and technique drills, game drills, and free throw drills, he teaches and describes fundamentals and teaching points. Practice begins with set lifts to reinforce proper technique. "Keeping the elbow under the ball" is emphasized in the Bradley drill. The Mikan and reverse Mikan drills develops touch around the basket. A staple in the Villanova system is seen in the one- and two-step shooting sequence, which relies on proper footwork. V-cuts, rebounding, and shooting are combined in three man, two ball shooting drills. In all of the drills, a big emphasis is put on good, crisp passing. Wright believes in game-like, competitive shooting as he progresses through practice. Because confidence is the key to free throw shooting, the Wildcats work on free throw consistency throughout this video. Ultimately, game situations challenge players to build their confidence from the free throw line. During competitive drills, Wright preaches to his players to "set up quick, shoot slow". The two ball drill segment combines the screener and cutter as they build parts of motion offense into shooting drills. Four cutting options are presented after screens: Curl cut, back cut, out cut, and the straight cut. These drills increase the ability for each player to shoot from all spots on the floor, making the team balanced and difficult to defend. A great video for solid footwork and competitive shooting drills.

Coach Pearl's teams have led their league in scoring in each of his 15-year head-coaching career. His highest scoring team averaged over 101 points a game. His philosophy is to attack when the opponent is at its weakest, which is when they are retreating on defense. Pearl presents the concepts, teaching points and drills that make the Volunteers a force on offense. Transition offense comes after a miss or a make by the opponent. Getting the ball in bounds quickly is a must for transition basketball. The "circle" is a technique for the point guard to get open for a quick pass from the in bounds passer. A foundational drill for transition is the 3, 4 and 5 man fast break without defense. A key teaching point is advancing the ball by the pass as quickly as possible. Drills include the 4-man break, 5-man break and 7-man break. Defenders are used to mix up coverage and attempt to disrupt the break.

A crafty point guard as a player at Bradley, Coach Les has made transition a part of the Bradley foundation. Building a mindset of quick transition from defense to offense has been a major emphasis. Wings are responsible for sprinting to half court, getting out ahead of the defense as the point guard pushes the ball. The non-rebounding post player becomes the "rim runner" on the other end. Once in the half court, the trailing post has the option to ball screen, or screen away. On penetration, each player has specific reactions to execute. This system puts pressure on the defense by driving the ball to the baseline and gaps in the defense. With perimeter-heavy teams, Les teaches 1, 2 or 3 to push the ball down the floor. By eliminating the outlet pass to the point guard, all three perimeter players can quickly advance the ball. Les cites the wide double screen and quick ball screen as weapons when the offense flows to half court offense. This offensive attack provides for great spacing, post up opportunities, penetration and open shots. Les also presents teaching points for running after a made shot. The drills Les demonstrates focus on ball handling, running, spacing, rebounding and decision-making. Les presents a running game that is an offense in itself.

Demonstrations include: secondary trapping, ball denial on the inbound pass, soft pressure to slow tempo, middle denial, and sideline recovery traps. 2-on-2 and 2-on-4 drills reinforce trapping responsibilities. 1-on-2 "alley drills" teach players to communicate on defense. Coach Huggins' defense was created out of necessity early in his career and has been a part of his program everyday. Introduction to this defense begins with player-by-player assignments and coverage. The basic goal is to divide the court in half from basket to basket. Once the ball is on one side, the defense keeps it on that side. Ball pressure makes a big difference, keeping the offensive player from throwing skip passes and reversing the ball. To show the slides, a 5-on-5 zone shell drill is demonstrated. Huggins then moves the zone press up the floor, making it a full court attack. Once the ball is inbounds, keeping it in the box in the backcourt is important. Players away from the ball are on the line and up the line, in a direct line

between the ball and the player in their area. Two methods of playing this full court trap include regular and a "speed them up" approach. Players are either trapping, anticipating, or protecting the goal. Each duty is broken down into several teaching points.

with Jerry Petitgoue,

Cuba City HS (WI) Head Boys Basketball Coach (35+ years),

19 Conference titles, 3X Wisconsin State Championships

Coach Petitgoue, the winningest coach in Wisconsin High School history, shows you how to beat junk defenses with different offensive looks. Petitgoue's on-court demonstration shows how to attack the 2-3 zone, the trapping 1-3-1 and the Box-and-1.

When facing a Box-and-1, Petitgoue demonstrates how to create space and use screening to keep your star player in the game. He includes options such as skip passes, penetration and slip screens to create baskets.

For beating the 2-3 defense, Petitgoue shows his "Detroit" offense, which takes advantage of weak spots in the defense. Petitgoue also demonstrates his "Miami" and "Special" offenses that offset the 1-3-1 defense by creating skip passes, penetration and post looks. With over 700 wins, Petitgoue has proven he knows how to beat a zone!
