In two and half years, over 87,000 children in need received their first pair of shoes. Thank you!
Thank you for making my goal in 2006 — to give 250 children I met in Argentina a pair of shoes — not just a reality, but an outpouring of giving, goodwill, and change.
Because of your support and enthusiasm for the TOMS One for One movement, we are conducting bimonthly Shoe Drops in Argentina. We are working in Ethiopia to eradicate a horrible foot disease called Podoconiosis, a disease that is completely preventable with shoes. Additionally, we are giving 100,000 pairs of shoes to Haiti as part of a large-scale relief effort coor-dinated with the Clinton Global Initiative this year.
The numbers and the progress seem almost unbelievable. Just 24 months ago, we were still packing boxes in my apartment, sharing two phones, and hoping the website did not crash during the holiday rush. Today, we have 44 hard working and passionate employees, 600 retail partners around the world, 185 campus reps, and a group of the most eager and enthusiastic interns and Vagabonds on the planet. Each of these people have touched my life greatly, changed and chal-lenged me, and this first magalog will be the start of telling their stories.
This Holiday season, I invite you to give with us. Whether it’s buying our shoes, volunteering for a Shoe Drop, or screening our documentary, help TOMS keep giving. We need you, and your passion for change to continue this journey.
Thank you for what you’ve done in the past and what you’ll do in the future. TOMS has grown and given because of you, and over 87,000 children thank you for that.
As always, feel free to drop me a line with any ideas, questions, or pictures of you wearing your TOMS.
Carpe Diem,

There are no complicated formulas. It’s simple: for every pair purchased, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need.
TOMS Shoes was founded in 2006 when American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriend-ed the children of Argentina and found many had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created a company that would match every pair of shoes sold with a pair given to a child in need. One for One. With a group of family, friends, and staff, Blake returned to Argentina later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by caring TOMS customers.

TOMS moved into a warehouse in Santa Monica to meet the sudden demands of increased sales. A growing staff worked tirelessly and in November of 2007, TOMS had a second and much larger Shoe Drop, hand-placing 50,000 pairs of shoes on children in South Africa. TOMS ended the year being honored with the People’s Design Award from the Cooper —Hewitt National Design Museum—Smithsonian Institution.
The classic TOMS shoe is modeled after the Argentine Alpargata and has a unique slip-on design combining clean lines and lightweight fabrics in vibrant colors and prints. TOMS are now available in multiple fabric combinations for men, women, and a recently introduced line for toddlers, aptly titled Tiny TOMS. TOMS released the Wrap Boot in fall 2008.
TOMS ShOeS Evolution
The collection is available at specialty stores and retailers across the United States, including Nordstrom, and Whole Foods. TOMS opened its first retail loca-tion in September of 2008 on Abbot Kin-ney in Venice, CA. The pop-up store will be open through the holidays.
TOMS now conducts biweekly Shoe Drops in Argentina. As part of the effort to eliminate Podoconiosis, TOMS is giving shoes five days a week in Ethiopia to children most at-risk of contracting the disfiguring disease. The first U.S. Shoe Drop was held October 21, 2008. To date, TOMS has given over 87,000 pairs of shoes to children in need around the world and plans to give an additional 300,000 in the next twelve months.

Shoe DropsFriends of TOMSIn 2006, TOMS delivered 10,000 pairs of shoes to children in need in Argen-tina to fulfill the One for One promise given earlier that year. The first Shoe Drop proved not only that a company could be profitable and charitable, but also that Shoe Drops could provide the most personal way for people to get in-volved with the One for One movement.
Friends of TOMS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedication to mo-bilizing, connecting, and empow-ering individuals who want to give further aid to communities served by TOMS. Friends of TOMS was started to give the opportunity to hand-place
matched shoes on children’s feet and the desire to participate is overwhelming. On a Shoe Drop, volunteers enjoy sightseeing and visiting major cities as well as travel-ing into rural areas to give shoes. Shoe Drops are a unique opportunity to glimpse a world unimaginable to a developed nation as well as a constant reinforce-ment that the One for One movement is necessary, beneficial, and monumental to each child it embraces.

About MeaghanWhen Meaghan Delmonico first heard about Shoe Drops, she spent hours pour-ing her heart into an application to vol-unteer in Argentina. Her trip was one that she’ll never forget. The children she met in the villages of Argentina inspired Meaghan to do more to help when she returned to L.A. Not long after, she was able to bring her skills in design and branding to TOMS as our Editor-in-Chief.

About Jonathan It’s 8:30 a.m. at TOMS HQ. Jonathan Jung skateboards into the office, takes a seat at his desk, and begins his day. Jonathan, the first TOMS intern and employee, found TOMS through a short posting on Craigslist. He chose to divert from his path of science and engineering and take a chance on TOMS, becoming the self-titled Shoe Dude. Today, he manages production and logistics for TOMS. He says, “The best part about TOMS is finding creative solutions to common problems.” Believe it or not, Jonathan claims he does not use any product in his Mohawk.

Style Your Sole One of the best ways to get involved with the One for One movement is to host a Style Your Sole party, where you and your friends, coworkers and classmates get together and customize white or solid colored TOMS and support the TOMS mission. All you need to do is get a group of caring people together, order white canvas TOMS, watch For Tomorrow and create amazing shoes knowing that you’re directly helping a child in need. Style Your Sole parties are great for birthdays, company parties, community events, or any time you commit a group of people to making a difference. One for One. At the recent U.S. Shoe Drop, TOMS hosted Style Your Sole parties at elementary schools so that children could celebrate by expressing their creativity.

VagabondsIn Fall 2008, the TOMS Vagabond Tour launched after weeks of coordinating at headquarters. The Vagabonds host Style Your Sole parties and For Tomorrow screenings all over the U.S. Every day they know what it feels like to make a difference in the world around them, telling our story and selling shoes so we can give shoes to children in need. One for One. Living life on the road, they are traveling local heroes. Along the way, they film and blog their adventures.

InternsAt most companies, the usual intern work-day is spent getting coffee and making copies. In the TOMS Shoes Headquarters Internship Program, that couldn’t be far-ther from the truth. Featured by Inc. Mag-azine as one of the coolest internship pro-grams in the country, TOMS interns are an integral part of every department, spe-cializing in everything from retail market-ing to design, recruitment to campus pro-grams. For even more fun, while working at the headquarters, interns live together in one of the two TOMS Intern Houses.

About the TOMS Wrap Boot
In Argentina, Blake was inspired to design a boot that all women could wear to capture attention. Fashioned after the brightly-colored leg wraps of champion polo ponies, the TOMS Wrap Boot is an elegant, innovative addition to the TOMS collection.
TOMS progressive design consists of a flat, canvas boot with a stretchy wrap that can be worn under the knee at any height. The TOMS Wrap Boot is offered in red, brown, olive green, rust, and black and is perfect with shorts, skinny jeans, skirts, or leggings. Its versatile nature lends an equestrian flair to any outfit.
No Polo Widow, the story that inspired the Wrap Boot, was Blake’s first writing and directorial debut. He shot on-site in Argentina with a small crew. For more information about the TOMS Wrap Boot and No Polo Widow, visit:

Tyler Ramsey has never owned a paintbrush. As one of TOMS Shoes featured artists, Tyler applies paint directly from the tube and moves colors with his fingers to stylize white and navy TOMS. Each unique pair is individually painted.

When Chief Shoe Giver Blake Mycoskie went to Argentina for a Shoe Drop, he brought with him famed L.A. nightlife photographer The Cobrasnake. He not only documented the Shoe Drop, but The Cobrasnake also advised Blake on No Polo Widow, the Wrap Boot inspiration film.
