Intelligent Compensated Neutron (iCN)

The Intelligent Compensated Neutron tool utilizes an Americium-241/Beryllium (Am/Be) neutron source and dual Helium-3 detectors to measure the ratio of thermal neutrons at each detector. The ratio is environmentally corrected and porosity is calculated for the desired lithology. When run in combination with the Intelligent Litho Density tool, indications of lithology and gas zones can be interpreted.

Intelligent Litho-Density (iLD)

The Intelligent Litho-Density tool utilizes a Cesium (Cs137) gamma ray source to bombard the formation. Dual detectors measure the energy spectrum and count rates of returned gamma rays whereby both the bulk density and the photoelectric absorption index are calculated. A motorized caliper arm is used to ensure pad contact with the borehole wall, reducing environmental effects while simultaneously providing a hole diameter measurement.

Intelligent Waveform Sonic Tool (iWS)

The iWS acoustic tool was designed for acquiring high-resolution, full-wave acoustic data. The tool features a monopole transmitter and a five-receiver array, which records waveforms at each receiver, while obtaining formation-integral travel time (∆t) and shear (∆t) in fast formations. The iWS requires a fluid-filled borehole and can be used in fresh, salt or oil-based mud systems. In cased holes a traditional cement bond log can be produced.

Intelligent Array Induction (iAI)

The iAI produces accurate measurements of open-hole-formation conductivity as a function of radial distance and depth. The tool uses one transmitter coil providing excitation signals at multiple frequencies into the formation, while an array of receiving coils senses the return signal from the formation. The multi-channel signal-processing technology provides a robust and stable tool response with enhanced radial and vertical resolution despite borehole conditions and formation environments.

SENSOR TECHNOLOGY

Intelligent Navigation Tool (iNAV)

The Intelligent Navigation Tool utilizes a high resolution directional sensor package to determine the wellbore trajectory and the position of the logging tool with respect to the wellbore.

The high resolution directional sensor consists of a 3-axis accelerometers and a 3-axis magnetometers, these measurements are used to determine the gravitational force and magnetic field acting on each axis from which the navigation and borehole orientation information are derived.

The measurements from the iNAV tool aid in analyzing data from other tools in deviated wellbores and can be used in the answer products from other sensors (eg cross-dipole azimuthal anisotropy analysis). The iNAV tool is fully compatible with the rest of the Signum Instruments micro slim tool suite and its advanced range of conveyance options.

Intelligent Four Arm Caliper Tool (iFC)

The Intelligent Four Arm Caliper Tool uses four fully independent caliper arms capable of recording high resolution borehole data providing an XY dual-axis wellbore diameter measurement.The measurements from the iFC can be used to perform borehole breakout analysis, calculate accurate volumes and provide important data to aid in evaluating log quality from other sensors.When ran in combination with the iNAV tool, the combined data can be used to generate a 3D representation of the wellbore geometry helping to identify drilling induced borehole defects that can impact drilling practices and completion decisions.The iFC tool is fully compatible with the rest of the Signum Instruments micro slim tool suite and its advanced range of conveyance options.

Used during memory operations, the iDI enables deployment of downhole tools to the deployment sub. You can be confident your tools are functioning and being deployed in the proper position, as the iDI maintains full communication through a local wireless interface between the pick-up and drop-off sections of the tool. CONVEYANCE TECHNOLOGY

The iBT is the tool’s power source for memory operations. iBT self-manages the power-source location, battery usage and battery life. Multiple iBTs may be used to maximize efficiency and battery longevity. The iBT also monitors logging-tool operation and, when needed, cycles battery power, resetting the logging tool(s) to reduce data loss to a minimum, while enhancing log-data integrity and quality.

Signum’s Intelligent Telemetry Module serves as the communication gateway to transfer logging tool data to the surface acquisition system via a multi-conductor wireline. The iTM is used for real time communication during conventional wireline logging, and is also used during memory operations as a means to communicate with the logging string during deployment and retrieval.

The addition of the Intelligent Mono-conductor Telemetry Module (iMTM) further increases the versatility of the MicroSlim product line by serving as the communication gateway transferring tool data to the surface acquisition system via a mono-conductor wireline. The iMTM provides real-time communication during conventional triple-combo wireline logging, or quad-combo logging, with quality control data for the Intelligent Waveform Sonic tool (iWS). During memory operations, the iMTM enables communication with the logging string during deployment and retrieval.

During through-drill-pipe operations, Signum logging tools gain access to the open hole by passing through the bottomhole assembly (BHA). Comprised of the optional float-valve sub, deployment sub and access bit or mule shoe, the BHA makes it possible to bypass trouble zones, drill through bridges, complete reamer runs and maintain well control, all while maintaining access to the borehole. Not getting logs to bottom is no longer a problem with the Signum conveyance system.

ANCILLARIES

SWIVEL

Swivel enables free rotation between two sections of the tool string. Decouples tool string from the wireline or drill pipe during memory operations. This ensures minimal tool rotation, producing more consistent data.

SP SUB

The original logging tool, the SP Sub allows lithology identification and can be used as a means of log correlation. Use the SP Sub to determine bed boundaries, indicate porosity and permeability, and measure the difference in potential between the downhole electrode and a surface electrode.

CCL

Used as a means of depth control, the CCL responds to variances in metal volume, such as pipe collars and perforations.

DECENTRALIZERS

Decentralizers ensure that tools are properly posited against the borehole wall. This minimizes the effects of borehole fluids and enables the acquisition of high-quality data. Electrical feedthroughs enable the tool to be used at any point in the string, while fully collapsible springs enable easy passage through drill pipe or into the casing shoe.

CENTRALIZERS

Centralizers optimize tool position while minimizing environmental effects. With the

ability to fully collapse to a 2 ¼” diameter, Signum centralizers offer a through-tubing-capable solution for conventional, directional and horizontal well-bore applications.

KNUCKLE JOINTS

Knuckle joints enable ideal tool positioning, reduce the rigidity of the tool string and optimize weight distribution for easier maneuverability in highly deviated or horizontal wells.

SURFACE EQUIPMENT

During logging operations Signum Instruments’ MicroSlim technology collects downhole data that is then sent up-hole through the Interface Panel and recorded via the SignumLab software. During memory operations, Signum’s Intelligent Depth Tracker (iDT) enables the user to record the drilling rig’s measured bit depth against time as drill-pipe is tripped out of the hole. Merging this information with the recorded downhole data results in a log presented in standard format.

Signum Instruments’ Interface Panel (SIIP):

The SIIP is a small 2U panel which allows the user to directly interface with the downhole tools and wireline. Eight removable banana plugs provide direct access to conductors for easy continuity testing, while a selectable switch offers easy change-over from several modes including log, external power, mono conductor, safe, and test.

Intelligent Depth Tracker (iDT):

IDT is composed of a depth tracking box, rotary encoder, and deadline hook load sensor. Upon calibration the software will record bit depth, hook load, block height, and ROT. If preferred and/or available, WITS connections allow the user to plug directly into the rig’s Pason, Totco, or third-party depth tracking computer.
