On January 30, 2016 Twenty-three woodwind students from Chica Fluta Studio competed in the Indiana State School Music Association District Solo & Ensemble Contest (ISSMA). The result of hard work, poise under pressure, and laser-beam focus resulted in a superb result of 20 Gold and 3 Silver medals. Five of the competitors were entered in Group 1, the most difficult level in which the music selections are chosen from a required list and specific editions are strictly enforced. I am pleased to report every student who competed in Group 1 progressed to ISSMA State Competition held February 27th at North Central High School, and every musician earned a gold medal.
