Enjoy a guided tour at a height of 60 metres. Middelfart’s biggest and highest attraction is undoubtedly Bridge walking. So if you have a penchant for heights and experiences that give you an adrenaline rush, make sure you don’t miss this spectacular view from dizzy heights. Bridge walking only takes place in two other places in the world – Australia and New Zealand.

Bridge walking on The Old Little Belt Bridge

An absolute MUST for the entire family when visiting Middelfart is a trip at sea to experience the beautiful Little Belt by boat, where you will encounter one of the world’s densest whale populations.Venture on a whale safari and see the small whale, the porpoise, at close range – the captain guarantees a whale sighting.Pack a homemade picnic basket or buy some lunch, cake or tapas in the pedestrianised shopping street just five minutes away from Gl. Havn, the old harbour and enjoy your food on board. Sailing trips with AVENTURA or Mira 3.

Fun summer activities for kids

The Little Belt meanders and alternates between deep water with dense currents and shallow nutrient-rich coasts. This makes the Little Belt one of Denmark’s best areas for both coastal and deep-sea fishing. Whatever the weather, you can always find a good place to fish. There are many places to put your boat in the water and the Little Belt is usually calm to sail on. Rent a boat from Vestfyn’s Marinecenter and sail out on your own, or join one of the planned fishing trips from the Old Harbour with M/S Medicus.

Discover the unique and varied underwater ecosystem of the Little Belt waters. Excellent options for wall dives, drift diving and deep dives directly from the beach make the Little Belt one of northern Europe’s best diving spots. First-time divers can take our popular test dive at Fænø-Sund Ferie where expert instruc-tors will guide you all the way.You can also embark on a snorkelling adventure – on your own or with an instructor – on Middelfart’s new snorkelling trail by Grimmermosehuset.

Fænø-Sund Ferie offers rental of full snorkel-ling equipment for just DKK 50 per adult or child per day, which includes all the equip-ment you need for snorkelling: a wetsuit, mask, snorkel and flippers.

Nature lovers will enjoy the many (free) experiences at Hindsgavl Peninsula. There are many excellent paths for walking, biking or horseback riding. At the Nature Centre, you can find the Bridge Walking welcome cen-tre, as well as an expansive natural play-ground and “Tarzan” course for the little ones.

At the Nature Centre, and around the whole peninsular, there are many great picnic spots where you can cook food over an open fire. In other words, there is place for plenty of fun and games all year round.

Enjoy exploring the old town with its amazing views of the Little Belt, where the winding, narrow streets, old houses and cobble-stones create a unique atmosphere in this old maritime town. From here you can continue towards the water to the Old Har-bour, which is the starting point for tour boats and home to the town’s many seaworthy vessels. Continue past the shipyard to the boathouses, which tell the story of the town’s past porpoise hunting and porpoise hunter guild.

In the summer months you can join guided walks around the old town of Middelfart.
