In our body, blood sugar is regulated by a hormone called insulin. Sugars are broken by insulin into glucose, which is transported from intestine and liver to whole of the body via bloodstream.

If glucose is not regulated properly that will lead many serious damage to the body’s system, particularly nerves and blood vessels and patients are categorized as Diabetic patients.

Diabetes mellitus Type 1: In this condition, body does not produce appropriate level of insulin and regular administration of insulin is required.

Diabetes mellitus Type 2: In this case, body becomes unable to use the insulin. Type 2 diabetes has been reported in 90% of people all though the world.

The other case of diabetes has been reported in pregnant woman, known as gestational diabetes. Which could cause severe problem during pregnancy and delivery.

1. Fenugreek or Methi:Fenugreek or Methi has many health benefits and exhibit the property to reduce the rate of sugar absorption in body. It is very effective for type 2 diabetic patients.

• Soak one or two teaspoon of methi seeds in water overnight and drink morning at the earliest on empty stomach

• You can take 30-50 mg of methi (green/leafy) along with your food during eating

2. Cinnamon: Cinnamon contains bioactive molecules, which regulate blood sugars in type 2 diabetic patients. One should be careful while using cinnamon because cinnamon contains coumarin, which is toxic to the liver in some cases.

• Take ½ tsp of cinnamon powder in a cup of warm water and drink

• You can boil 1 or 2 sticks of cinnamon in a cup of water and drink daily

3. Bitter gourd: It is also called as Kerala in India. The extract of Bitter gourd has been reported to control the alpha glucosidase enzyme, which reduces the blood sugar.

• Take one bitter gourd and slice it. Remove the seeds. Blend the sliced vegetables and obtain the juice. Drink the juice every morning.

4. Guduchi: Guduchi is also known as Giloy. The extract of Guduchi has played role in inhibiting the alpha glucosidaseenzyme activity, which is involved in glucose breakdown.

• Wash the stem part of plant and soak in water overnight. Drain out water and mash the starchy portion and consume daily.

5. Amla: It is also known as an Indian Gooseberry and is the rich source of vitamin C. it maintain the proper functioning of pancreas.

• Take 2-3 fruits of Amla, remove seeds and blend these to make a fine paste. Squeeze the paste to extract the juice. Mix 1-2 table spoon in a cup of water and drink daily on empty stomach.

• You can mix Amla juice with Bitter Gourd juice for more effective results.

6. Black Berry: Black Berry is also known as Jamun in India and has been found very effective in controlling sugar level.

• Purchase Jamun, whenever present in the market and eat as it is. These are for only few days every year.

• You could make the powder of seeds and take 1 table spoon it with a cup of water twice a day

7. Leaves of mango: Mango leaves can be used for controlling the insulin level in blood. They have been also observed in improving lipid profile.

• Soak 10-15 tender leaves in the glass of water overnight. Drink in the morning on empty stomach

• Make powder of dried leaves. Take ½ tablespoon of powder twice a daily

8.Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera contains phytosterols, which controls hyperglycemic effect for diabetic type 2 patients.

• Cut the leave then let the resin to be dripped out. Now, cut the leave such a way that you would be able to get the gel. Blend the gel with vegetables/fruits and drink.

9. Neem: Neem is one of the known tree for its medicinal properties. Aqueous extract of Neemsignificantly decreased the blood sugar level in glucose induce hyperglycemia.

• Take 1 table spoon of freshly prepared Neemleaf juice daily on empty stomach in morning.

• Dry leaves and make powder of it. Use one tablespoon daily in morning

10.Tulsi (Holy Basil): the leaves of tulsi are packed with anti-oxidants, essential oils. They induce the pancreatic beta cells to secrete more insulin.

• Take 1 tablespoon of Tulsi juice daily on empty stomach

Diet recommendations: You should take the foods and vegetable which have less glycemic index. Examples are -
