Data transfer from Topcon Total station.

1. Install Topcon Link (available from Stadia Instruments website)

2. Start Topcon Link then select File – Import from devise, the following form will

be displayed

3. From the Look in: drop down select Topcon Total Station and fill in the details as

below

4. Select the advanced Tab and fill in the details as shown below once applied you

can return to these forms by selecting the instrument “right clicking the mouse”

and selecting Properties.

5. Your setup should now look like this, in the right hand pane select a directory you

want to save your files in.

6. Double click on GTS-8205 or what ever you called it (its just a name), the screen

should look like this

7. Select the double arrows or double click on file1.txt the following form will be

displayed that has prompts on it to select start after you start file transfer from the

instrument.

8. Connect the instrument to the computer using the cable that connects it to the data

recorder.

9. On the instrument select F1 - Prog, F1 – STDSVY8, JOB and select the job you

created

10. Arrow across to XFER then arrow down to PORT and check that it is 9600, None,

8, 1 enter through the options then select SEND

11. Selecting SEND brings up a 2nd menu where you can select RAW to get the raw

obs file or points to get the co-ords file, select RAW or POINTS the COM

12. Select OK on the instrument to start the download and Start in Topcon Link to

receive the data.
