Topic Learning Year 4
Monday
Today, we are going to find out more
about the oceans, in particular the
layers of the ocean.
Do some research to find out about more about each layer of
the ocean and the living things within each.
These websites may be useful:

Design your own illustration, collage or model to show the life in
each ocean layer.
You could use pencils, crayons, paints, fabric or any materials you
have to represent each ocean layer.
Here is an example:

The Carnival of the Animals (French: Le
Carnaval des Animaux) is a musical
composition by Camille Saint-Saëns. It is
one of the best known pieces of classical
music for children.
Listen to each movement in the link below.
Try to listen to the elements of the music and how each animal or
character is represented. Some are not animals, but the music
sounds like it.

Draw what you imagine the animals might be doing as you listen
and make notes about what you hear in each movement.
Give each movement it’s French title (see the next page for the
vocabulary).
You could use this form of presentation if you wish:

Awesome Earth
People often don’t realise how amazing our world actually is! Over
the lockdown period, many people have been able to take the
opportunity to stop rushing around and marvel at our natural
environment. I know I certainly have!
Watch these videos of our awesome planet Earth to get an idea
of how wonderful it can be:

Consider the aspects of our world that make you think, “Wow!”
It could be something as simple as a sunrise or birdsong, or it could
be places that you know about or have seen, such as forests or
beaches.
Imagine you are an intergalactic travel agent – design an advert
for your latest Earth travel brochure to encourage beings from
other planets to book a holiday on Earth.
Here is a page from an actual travel brochure to use as an example:
It is completely up to you what to include in your advert and how you
set it out.
Just remember to advertise the aspects of Earth that fill you with
awe and wonder!
