Corporate Philosophy To promote the development of science and technology in Malaysia, TORAY established Malaysia Toray Science Foundation (MTSF) in 1993, through an initial endowment of RM4 million.   • TORAY-USM Knowledge Transfer Centre was officially opened by

    Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh, Minister of Higher

    Education together with Dato’ Akihiro Nikkaku,

    TORAY President, on 7 December 2015.

    TORAY’s products were displayed at science fairs

    where staff were present to share the significant

    scientific breakthroughs of its products. Visitors,

    particularly the students, were given the

    opportunity to engage in live demonstrations to

    explore and experience the wonders of science in

    our daily lives.

    PENFABRIC presented weaving looms to enrich UiTM students

    with practical knowledge and skills in textile manufacturing.

    Teaching & Training Aids Yearly, TORAY hosts on-the-job industrial trainings for local and

    foreign undergraduates so that they can acquire real-life working

    experiences and knowledge.

    To stimulate greater interests in science,

    technology and innovation among our

    young Malaysians, TORAY Malaysia

    donated RM300,000 towards the Tech

    Dome Project, expected to be

    launched in July 2016.

    Tech-Dome Penang a hub for technology, creativity and innovation

    TORAY contributed RM4 million to Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM),

    for the construction of the 4-storey “TORAY-USM Knowledge Transfer

    Centre” to enhance advancement of education for the betterment

    of the community.

    On 12 December 2015, TORAY PLASTICS (MALAYSIA) successfully planted 150 mangrove saplings at Sungai Acheh, Nibong Tebal, Penang to protect the environment. Cash contribution was also channeled to the Penang Inshore Fishermen Welfare Association to extend their pedestrian bridge.

    Yearly, PENFABRIC organizes “Green Day” initiatives to encourage recycling efforts and raise awareness among its staff. With strong support, funds have also been raised for charity.

    Guided by the principle “Safety First”, safety

    initiatives including fire-fighting trainings,

    fire drills and safety conventions are regularly

    held.

    To stay healthy and happy, staff are

    encouraged to participate actively in sports

    and recreation activities hosted by the

    company.

    Staff are also encouraged through company’s

    awards and recognitions, to undertake

    social and voluntary work. Blood donation

    campaigns are held periodically.

    TORAY was commended by the Ministry of

    Higher Education for its education initiatives

    and developing local talents.

    production conditions (Oeko-Tex Certified).

    PENFABRIC was awarded by Japan

    Management Association for its excellent

    manufacturing, outstanding leadership,

    nurturing teamwork, unique educational and
