Another noisy plane over the houses. What is wrong with your pilots that they can t take a wide path around residential areas, or this purely intentional? Looks pretty bad on Porter.

We were visiting friends on Algonquin Island and we could hear the noise from inside the house. It sounded like a helicopter was hovering over the house. I left for home and could hear it the whole time I was cycling home. When I reached the area around the Ward s Island ferry dock I met up with my 20-year-old son who had come out to try to find out what was making so much noise. He had heard it from inside our house on Ward s Island. It went on for about 15 minutes.

About twenty minutes after ten o clock on an otherwise ordinary Saturday evening... suddenly there s the most incredible din coming from the island airport, sustained for several minutes... what on earth are you people doing there?!... what are you thinking of?!!! You woke and frightened my 10 year old daughter - I want an explanation, along with your assurance that this won t happen again... this is absolutely unacceptable neighbourly behaviour on your part. I would like to receive your earliest possible response.

It s not considerate or neighbourly of you to conduct a maintenance run-up at 7am on a holiday weekend (or 7am any other day for that matter). I would never, for instance, run a lawn mower at that time. What are you thinking? This is exemplary of Porter Air s attitude to the ccommunity it exists in.

I ve written to you about this recurring problem on at least one other occasion (most recently on May 10th), but I have not received a response from you. I was woken up this morning by the sound of a roaring engine - EXTREMELY LOUDLY - which again was coming from a static position on the ground at the island airport. The noise was sustained for three or four minutes at a steady level, much greater than the noise that might normally be associated with take-offs or landings, after which it stopped abruptly. Following this rude awakening, needless to say, though everything is quiet now, I have been sufficiently agitated that I will not be going back to bed for a Saturday morning sleep-in. Please respond as soon as possible with an explanation of what was going on there and with some suggestion as to how the problem may be resolved. This level of imposition on your neighbours lives is simply not acceptable. I am by the phone and will look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you.

loud transport truck noises for at least an hour that kept me awake - it was intense and it seems that whatever made the noise was being loaded onto the ferry for the Island airport.. Then tonight there is an intense light shining in all our windows - it is suspended high above the airport and it casts a very bright light which shines through even heavy curtains. What is going on? The noise coming from the low flying aircraft from the TCCA is unacceptable and VERY DISTURBING. The incident time that I ve provided above is but one incident only. I have logged many incidents from July 2007 and have provided them to Transport Canada. The noise disturbance is on a daily basis. I have also contacted NAV Canada regarding this matter. The noise level coming from the small planes that fly over my area, which incidentaly is designated as a NOISE SENSITIVE AREA, is intolerable. There have been many times that I have to significantly raise the level of my voice so I can have a conversation with the person next to me! I have also emailed my complaint to your office ([email protected]) on May 24, 2008 and I have also left a voice complaint at 416-203-8490 on May 23, 2008. Please advise me as to the steps your organization is taking to eliminate this problem asap.

We heard Porter #132 from Newark land at about 11:20 Monday night. That s after being wakened on Monday morning around 4:25 by a lot of helicopter noise. I can t find a flight tracker that tracks helicopter flights, so I don t know what made that noise, but it went on for some time. I couldn t get back to sleep. When I finally got up, I saw the ferry leaving the mainland for the airport between 5:15 and 5:30 a.m. The airport seems to be open and responsible for a lot of aircraft noise during hours people try to sleep.Tuesday morning I tried to enter a complaint. You asked for all my personal information, then you asked me to calculate the time, using a 24-hour clock, then to enter my comment, and then I hit "Submit Form", and your complaint form was down! That was so frustrating.
