Kennedy International Airport Building 14, Third Floor Jamaica, NY 11430 Dear Ms. Francoeur, I wish to obtain the following information pertaining to the Bird Hazard Management Program at John F. Kennedy International Airport to reduce aircraft bird strikes by the use of lethal wildlife central measures. All records and data of the total number of birds killed (shooting, poisoned, live-trapped and euthanasia) on the property of John F. Kennedy International Airport for each and every year from 1991-Present. These records should also be species-specific for every bird killed (e.g., FY-1998: Total birds killed 12000. Laughing Gulls =8000, Herring Gulls-2000, Turkey Vultures-600, Canada Geese-400, etc.). It is my understanding that wildlife management activity at JFK is performed by personnel from both the JFK Wildlife Management Unit and the United States Department of Agriculture- APHIS-Wildlife Services. If these two agencies maintain separate records ant( data --not cumulative--for number of birds killed each year on JFK property, please advise. My request for this information is for increased awareness and better understanding of human- wildlife conflicts. I will pay all fees charged for search and processing. Should I need to submit a Freedom of Information Law/Act (FOIL/FOIA) for this request, please provide the FOIL Officer for PANY/N7 and contact information. Thank you for your attention.
