Managing the Consumption of Water and the Water BillsHospital facilities consume considerable volumes of water: 300-450 Litres of water on average per personper day in hospitals compared to 137 Litres for domestic use. This excessive consumption is due to theincrease in patient's personal washing at washbasins as well as the rigorous hand washingprotocols for healthcare staff (see page 16/17).Compared to a conventional mixers/taps, DELABIE's electronic mixers/taps optimise water saving and waterbills.

The water savings created enable the following:- energy savings: the amount of water saved does not require heating. - equipment savings: lower flow rate and consumption mean that lower capacity pipework andwater heating systems can be installed. Automatic Opening and Closing without Manual ContactDELABIE's electronic controls are operated by infrared presence detections:- Opens when the detector senses hands in the detection zone- Automatic closure when the hands are removed from the detection zone. The lack of manual contact prevents the transmission of germs by the hands.However, a traditional mixer is contaminated by all manual contact before washing and the user can also catch the germs through manual contact after washing.

Anti-bacterial Duty Flush The two key factors in the development of bacteria (Legionella or other infectious bacteria) in thesystem are stagnant water and temperatures below 50°C.Studies show that those electronic controls that become contaminated do not have automatic dutyflushes. If mixers and taps are used every day there is minimal risk that bacteria will develop.However, if they are not used regularly, which is the case in approximately 20% of hospital rooms,the water in the pipework is not renewed, which inevitably results in bacterial proliferation.

To prevent water stagnation (mixers and taps not used for more than 24 hours), all DELABIEelectronic mixers and taps have an anti-bacterial duty flush. An automatic flush takes place forabout 45 seconds every 24 hours after the last use which will limit the development of bacteria.The duty flush reduces the volume of water, and the length of time it remains in the pipework. Thisavoids stagnation and bacteria don't have time to develop.

Hygienic Flow StraightenerThere is no comparison with a traditional aerator, DELABIE's flow straightener has an honeycomb inscale-proof material (scale build-up is 5 times slower).It reduces water retention and scale build-up, preventing the development of germs.

PEX Flexible HosesThis type of flexible will withstand thermal and chemical shocks undertaken in healthcare facilitiesfor preventative or curative treatments against Legionella.

New Solenoid Valve with PistonThis new DELABIE solenoid valve (patent pending) is supplied with all battery-operated models andreduces niches where bacteria can develop.
