2. Total Station In-Built Programs The instrument can perform some of the simple surveying experiments, independently , such as.. Remote Elevation Measurement Missing Line Measurement Area Calculation Data Collection 10 February 20142 3. Experimental Procedures10 February 20143 4. Remote Elevation Measurement To obtain elevationKto the point at which setting the target Prism is not possible, the REM Program is useful.Place the prism at any point on the ground in the same vertical plane of the target10 February 20144 5. The procedure is as follows:10 February 20145 6. 10 February 20146 7. 10 February 20147 8. MISSING LINE MEASUREMENT (MLM) To obtain the measurement for horizontal distance (dHD), slope distance (dSD), elevation (dVD) and horizontal angle (HR) between two target prisms, the MLM programme is useful. The MLM mode has two modes MLM-1 (A-B, A-C): Measurement is A-B, A-C, A-D, .. MLM-2 (A-B, B-C): Measurement is A-B, B-C, C-D, ..10 February 20148 9. The procedure for MLM 1 is as follows.10 February 20149 10. 10 February 201410 11. 10 February 201411 12. The procedure for the MLM -2 is Completely same as MLM 1. 10 February 201412 13. Area Calculation To calculate area of aclosed figure AREA Programme is useful. There are two methods to calculate the area of the figure. Area calculation from coordinate data file. Area calculation from measured data10 February 201413 14. The procedure for the area calculation from measured data is as follows.10 February 201414 15. 10 February 201415 16. To change the displayed area unit Press F3 (UNIT) key and select a unit by pressing F1 F4 keys 10 February 201416 17. Character of the Surveying 1.Field Work.2.Office Work. The field work consists of the measurement of angles, distances and elevations and the keeping of a record of what has been done in the form of field notes (DATA COLLECTION)10 February 201417 18. Data Collection .. Need.. For true representation of field conditions. To plot the plans and sections with desired accuracy10 February 201418 19. Data Collection..Cont.. Carrying out BM Press Menu key Goto page 2 input the instrument height and reflector height Input the station coordinates as ( ex: 1000, 1000, 300 m).10 February 201423 24. Data Collection..Cont.. Sight the prism held on B.M. The difference in Z will be displayed Depending on the line of sight, add/subtract accordingly the difference in Z to the R.L. of the B.M. to get the R.L. of the station point10 February 201424 25. Data Collection..Cont.. RECORD Press MENU key. Create a file in coordinate (NEZ) mode. Input occupied point data and Back sight data/ Direction. Go to Side shots and orient the telescope towards the prism held at various intermediate station points as perthe visibility.10 February 201425 26. Data Collection..Cont.. Before going to shift the instrument, note down the last point data as change point. A peg mark of identificationof the change point should be fixed. Shift the instrument to the change point and set it there. Input last point data as occupied point data. Again, after input the instrument height and reflector height, orient the telescope to the back sight station and continue the process to other points. 10 February 201426 27. INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE : The following are the instructions to be followed for better results.Instructions for Instrument Maintenance : Always bring foot screws to the center of its run before levelling it up. Always see that both the locks are released before turning the instrument. Make sure that the clamps of the tripod are fixed firmly. Hold the handle of the instrument before fixing and at the time when it is to be removed for further shiftngs.10 February 201427 28. Batteries should be discharged for every ten charging completely, so that the life of the batteries will be increased. Always cleans the lens with cloth after the days work is finished. Make sure that the legs of tripod (bottom shoe) should be cleaned daily. Close the foot screws completely after the instrument is to be changed its position. Fix the instrument as per its position specified in the box and close the box.10 February 201428 29. Instructions for Operations Maintenance : When ever we are working in Distance mode ( ) or Co-ordinate mode ( ) to come out press (Ang) button key (Esc-Escape key will not work). Make sure that the measured filed is downloaded first to out PC and they only it is to be deleted. Always select the occ-point / BS point from the list only and then press enter. When ever Reflector Height is changed during side shot measurement make sure that the changed height is edited properly before measuring. Orientation is must after every shifting. To make internal display unit on, press * (star) button and then press F1. If it is required to change prism constant from 0 to -30, press * (star) button and then press PSM/PPM and then change the prism constant by pressing EDIT . 10 February 201429 30.
