touch and detach
DESCRIPTION
We hear sounds constantly. Whether they are comfortable or uncomfortable, we used to spend time enjoying the sounds of nature. Back in Japan, there was a culture in which people went out to listen to the crickets under the moonlight. However, modern culture attached a high value to the visual culture, pushing the sounds culture to its corner. My final project reconsiders the meaning of sounds in the daily life. The project allows the audience to re-recognize the existence and meaning of sounds through synesthetic visuals which enhance the experience of sounds. By this process of hearing and seeing, you may rediscover the value of the sound.TRANSCRIPT

We hear sounds from everywhere. Such as
Noise, Voice, and Music, our sense of hearing
is always connected to the world of sound. Then, how
are these sounds produced? It is touch and detach.
Most of sounds are produced when something
touches other things or detach from ones. For
example, when you play the guitar, you touch and
flick strings of the guitar.

unconsciously in our life, no one consider the sound
in daily life as something special such as music, but
it is not true. There are hidden sounds which are as
attractive as Beethoven or Mozart’s music. And the
sound contains emotion and meaning. People get
them from both seeing and hearing the sound. This is
a musical score of daily life.
