Programa - Of 15 days for the lovers of the high mountain. Start of preference on Tuesdays.

This high mountain program has been carefully developed by us to allow a good acclimatization that will give you the best opportunity to perform the great challenge of climbing to the summit of Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano in the world with its 5897m. of altitude and the Chimborazo and its 6268 m. of altitude which makes it the top of the planet closest to the sun. We began our acclimatization in the Otavalo region in the north of Ecuador, during an excursion around the Cuicocha lagoon (altitude 3200 m) and ending our trip in the north, with the ascent of Imbabura (4630 m.), An inescapable summit from the province of Imbabura. Then we will move south to climb the Guagua Pichincha (4784 m.) Before heading to Iliniza Norte (5126 m.), A great summit, which gives us that alpine atmosphere, and then the majestic Cotopaxi. After this effort, and as a rest and relaxation, we will visit the beautiful spa town of Baños with its thermal waters, located at the foot of the active volcano Tungurahua. We will then have a ride on the train of the Andes before venturing into the Carihuairazo (5020m) and finally the Chimborazo.

Note: We leave when possible, meals at your expense.

Ecuador is not a country specialized in gastronomy, but still fulfills all the desire to discover the traveler. It is a country rich in variety of menus, gourmet restaurants or simply small dining places in markets and villages. Meals mentioned in the program are included and those not mentioned are left to your choice. Your guide and traveling companion will tell you interesting places or restaurants, and may also assist you in your discovery, if you wish.

Practical advice

Because of the low temperatures found in the glacier, it is essential to have adequate boots. Participants are recommended to wear rigid mountaineering boots with internal thermal insulation for temperatures below -10 ° C or -20 ° C and to accept semi-automatic crampons. It would be better, for greater comfort during the ascent, to use your own shoes, however, there is also the possibility of renting them on site (Maximum size 47). If you have to rent equipment in Quito, we will help you in this process. For problems related to altitude sickness, consult your doctor for the use of Diamox.

Equipment We provide: Ice ax, crampons, harnesses, helmets, ropes and carabiners. Here is a list of personal equipment for the ascent in Ecuador: Wool cap, gloves and waterproof gloves, jacket and technical pants, headlamp, glacier goggles (protection 3 or 4), rigid mountaineering shoes with thermal insulation for temperatures below -10ºC and -20ºC and that can be placed semi-automatic crampons, sleeping bag, backpack of 70 liters (to carry the equipment until the refuge), backpack of 20 liters for the ascent, walking sticks (optional), leggings. .
