Return to Tirana. Check in the hotel and drive to Petrela Castle. One of Albania’s best-preserved cas-tles sits picturesquely on a step slope, 15 km from Tirana, along the road to Elbasan. Its tower dates back to 500 AD and the surrounding walls are from the Byzantine period. Emperor Justinian fortified this place to defend the settlement of Dyrrah. The castle was used later on by Skanderbeg during the war against the Turks. Today it houses a restaurant and offers a perfect spot for a short walk and a coffee break. Lunch in Petrela Castle and drive back for a free afternoon in Tirana. Overnight in Tirana.

Day 5 Tirana Depending on the departure time: stay for
