TOURIST ATTRACTIONS - FOZ DO IGUAÇU BRAZILIAN FALLS Iguaçu National Park It is situated on the extreme west, near Iguaçu River on Paraná River,on the border that separates Brasil and Argentina. Geographically it is located between the parallels 25 05’and 25 41’ of south latitude and the meridians 53 40’and 54 38’of longitude W.GR. Created by a Federal Decree number 1035 on january 10,1939,altered by the Decree number 6587 on june 14,1944 and 86.676 on december 1, 1981,with an area of 185.000 hectares.The access to the National Park begins from Foz do Iguaçu,through the BR 469 (highway) up to Cataratas-Iguaçu Falls. The average temperature is around 18 o C and 22 o C ,the minimum temperature is 0 o c and the maximum is over 40 o C. On november 17, 1986, during the Unesco Conference held in Paris, it was considered a World Patrimony. Iguassu Falls The world means “large water” in tupi-guarani.The river starts at “Serra do Mar” and goes along 1.320 kilometers up to Foz,joining Paraná River. The isolated falls are 275, making a unique front when it rains frequently. The high falls are 19, only three from Brazilian side (Floriano, Deodoro, and Benjamim Constant). The best view from the falls s on the Brazilian side.Their position most of them turned to Brasil makes possible to see all of them at the same time only from the Brazilian side. In terms of geophysics it can be seen that Iguaçu falls,situated in the there in vertical falls. The Iguaçu river has a width of 1.200 meters over the Falls, and it goes towards the tectonic chink becoming narrow and forming the talvegue. The total width of the Brazilian Territory is 800 m and the Argentinean side is 1.900 meters, wich results in total width of 2.700 meters going towards the front of the semi-circular falls. The unevenness is 72 meters, including the inclination of 3 meters over the falls, depending on the mass of the water released by the river the number of falls varies from 150 to 300 meters. According to Maack, it is 300 cubic meters when there is a drought and 6.500 cubic meters when there is abundance of rain, with na average of 1.550 cubic meters. The stroll to Cataratas Falls begins from the mirador beside the Hotel and it lasts approximately 01:30 hours, while the strolls leaving downtown last approximately 02:30 hours

MACUCO SAFÁRI DE BARCO Macuco Safari Boat

It is an elucidative trail situaded on KM 23 of the BR 469 (highway), 3 KM down Iguaçu Falls, wich has 2.500 meters of rustic road which 4x4 WD traction vehicle and 400 m which is made walking through the woods up the fall called “Salto do Macuco”- 20 meters high and a natural pond. Down the stairs which access

the Iguaçu River, whose way when navigable, makes possible to explore the ride with zodiac boats up to Cataratas (Iguaçu Falls).The stroll takes about 2:30 hours.

TRILHA DAS BANANEIRAS This tour consists of a "mini track", which is about 1, 6 km walk through the virgin forest where ornithologists, photographers or simply nature lovers can delight in posing as small ponds which can be sighted birds of aquatic habits . Ride combines navigation in twin-engine with the pleasure of paddling floatings (similar inflatable with rafting boats) at the top of the Iguaçu River enjoying the scenery, seeing riparian animals, birds, past the Isle of Taquaras and returning to the Port Banana, or the porto Canoas.

Black Well

Situated on KM 18 of the BR 469, inside the Iguaçu National Park, the place is covered almost all over by subtropical forest, with a great variety of fauna.

It has a rustic road which passes by brooks up to Poço Preto (Black Well). There have been researches in the fauna of the park. The stroll inside there takes about 4 hours.

PARQUE DAS AVES Birds Park

Combining ecotourism and environmental conservation, this bird sanctuary comprises na area of 16.5 hectares, of which 4 hectares are set aside specific aviaries, with remainder na environmentaly protected area. Along the sanctuary’s 800 meters long forest trail, you can walk past aviaries which are perfectly integrated in to the forest. In one display, fantastically coloured native birds fly overhead and then land near your feet. Two particular aviaries, representing the Brazilian birdlife ecosystem of “forest” and “wetlands” habitats, extend over a 630 square meters area, 8 meters high. You can go inside each one and experience the birds in their natural state. Demonstrating the richness of our planet’s biodiversity, there are birds representing over 160 Brazilian and international species such as loris, parakeets, araras, flamingos and grouse. The sanctuary also conducts programs of reprodution in captivity, environmental education and orientation sessions with biologists.

Located just 8 Km from downtown Foz do Iguaçu via the Cataratas highway, the center has plenty of parking, public phones, washroom and a cafeteria. It is situated at the end of Tancredo Neves Avenue; 10KM FROM Foz do Iguaçu downtown. This hydroelectric was built by two nations; Brasil and Paraguay. The world ITAIPU means “The Stone that sings” in tupi-guarani. It’s construction is one the greatest ever made by man and it benefits all the Paraguayan territory, south, southern and central west regions of Brasil.

It has power capacity of 12.600.000 K W. Itaipu has 18 units with nominal power of 700.000 K W each one. Nine units generate energy of 50 Hz, frequency used in Paraguay and the other nine ones generate 60 Hz, inified frequency used in Brasil.

During weekdays, except sundays and holidays,there are regular visitations which take about 03:30 hours.

MARCO DAS TRÊS FRONTEIRAS It is a tourist spot located in the cities of Foz do Iguaçu, Puerto Iguazú and President Franco concerning the place where territorial boundary respectively between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. The Brazilian landmark, located in the Port Meira, opened in 1903, and its authors were the Candido Rondon Rondon and Dionisio Cerqueira. The Argentine Marco is located on the Iguaçu River margin and the Paraguayan March is on the right bank of the Paraná River. The three also painted with the national colors, form an equilateral triangle fixing the territorial limit and the sovereignty of the three countries. You can walk all walkways or just those that are convenient. Superior circuit - This is a walk of 650 meters, offering panoramic views of the set of jumps that fall from the Iguaçu River. Route offers six (06) lookouts and places to rest along the promenade; (approximately 30 to 35 min. this path). Circuit Lower - This If a 1700metros walk, reaching eight (08) lookouts near the falls; (approximately 1:15 a.m. on this route). Devil's Throat - A walkway with 2080 meters of access allows the visitor has access to one of the finest spectacles of nature. The walkway offers three (03) lookouts access; The monumental Devil's Throat is a set heels, with 150metros wide and 80metros tall horseshoe-shaped, drooping potent form of water ,, forming clouds of steam watering visitors, contemplating the beautiful scenery; (approximately 2:00 a.m. on this route).
