EAST AMWELL
TOWNSHIP SCHOOL
Greetings!
In the next few weeks the foundation for the security entrance will be com-
plete and framing will begin. Hopefully the structure will be enclosed by mid-
December.
Staff and students have been hard at work and our teachers are looking for-
ward to sharing their student’s growth at our upcoming Parent-Teacher
Conferences in November. Please be sure to make time for the conferences
November 19th and 20th.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We all have a great deal to be thankful for.

School Vision Statement:
East Amwell Township
School District... is a safe,
supportive community that
recognizes all students as
unique individuals and pro-
vides opportunities for aca-
demic, artistic, cultural, emo-
tional, physical, social and
character development in a
diverse and ever-changing
society.
Dear Parents,
Our physical education classes ran both the full and half mile races in our annual Discover
Running Event. Over 300 kids participated in the 35th running of this race. Ribbons and
medals were awarded to all runners and a banner number of parents attended this wonderful
program.
In case you didn’t know it, we have an outstanding PTO that is looking for volunteers to help
with future events. So far this year, they have provided the following to our school: the
BMX Assembly, bottled water for Discover Running, grants for teachers, a New Student So-
cial, and the Book Fair. There is more to come, so please contact a PTO board member to see
how you can help.
Inside our classrooms, lessons were developed to honor Violence and Vandalism Prevention
Month. Also, we have held a Red Ribbon Week for drug prevention awareness and a Wear
Pink Day for breast cancer. These are just a few of the events we hosted this fall. Please be
on the lookout for more so that your children may participate.
Lastly, our next large project will be the annual Cougar Share Service Project. This project
will begin on November 19th through December 5th. Once again, we will be asking our
school community to donate to less fortunate children. An information letter will be coming
home soon. This character building and empathetic project is a labor of love and we hope
you will continue to support. This activity will certainly make the holidays a bit brighter for
several children and their families.
Sincerely,
John Capuano Principal
From The Principal

PTO NEWS: Our first Family Fun event was the annual Halloween Trunk or Treat, which was attended by
a record number of families. We had over 80 decorated cars, kids and parents in costume, a
Haunted House, DJ, costume parade, and prizes for judges' favorite costumes and cars.
Thanks to all who helped out and attended.

mation (name, items purchased) is private. This is good all year long and can really help us
earn, so please share with your friends and family!
Cash raffle is coming soon, tickets will be available at the end of the month, with the draw-
ing held in late November.

blog, http://eastamwellpto.blogspot.com/ There's a "follow by email" feature on the blog

We continue to collect Box Tops for Education, which can be dropped off at the front desk.
Our clothing shed also accepts donations year round, and clothing is not shredded. With
the cold weather and closet cleaning upon us, it's a great time to drop of your unwanted
items.
Our next meeting will be Wed, Nov 12 at 2:15pm in the cafeteria, which we believe will be
convenient for parents who pick up their kids. We hope to see you there, and thanks for
your support.

At our annual school board retreat, we were bought up to speed on all of the vari-ous projects the staff has been working on as well as the goals set for our district for this year. We received an update by our Architect re-lating to our construction project (now un-derway), the new windows to replace the old drafty ones and the roof project that will be funded by a State Grant. Our Food Service Company Maschio’s, came to ex-plain how they are implementing the new Food/Health regulations in relation to school lunches. They presented the board with meals to sample and offered to pre-sent to the children as well as parents, which they did on both back to school nights. A major goal for the Board was set to de-velop a parent portal. Using our student information system, will allow parents the ability to access student grades and at-tendance records.
Message From Board of Education
This system will also enable staff to better understand and evaluate stu-dent progress using pre and post as-sessments for various grade levels.
Presentations were also made by the staff representing special areas of the school. These special areas included the Preschool, our new Life Skills Pro-gram, STEM and Special Language Arts, Computer Technology, Art and Music.
The Board was updated by the tech-nology staff on the Wi-Fi and broad-band capabilities of the school and our readiness for the new PARCC assess-ment replacing the NJASK this year. The technology staff also introduced the new Goggle Chrome Books being used by the students working in Google Classroom.
The Board will continue to be updated by the Administration throughout the year on the progress of these goals.

SPARK County Creativity Co-Op
On Thursday, October 30, 10 fifth Grade SPARK and Junior Great Book students attended the Second Annual Creativity Co-Op at Reading Flem-ing Intermediate School in Flemington. The students took part in chal-lenging, fun problem-solving activities with students from all the sending districts. Students were asked to create a new Olympic sport, interpret a famous work of art, survive on a deserted island, or present a newscast of a famous historical event. Creativity Co-Op was established by the G/T teachers from East Amwell, Delaware Township, Readington, and Flemington-Raritan. This is the second event that encourages, learning, cooperation, and team work among gifted students who will be reuniting at Hunterdon Central. Congratulations to all the participants! Holiday GIFTS
NOVEMBER 18–DECEMBER 5
Donations will be collected from Wednesday, No-vember 18 until Friday, DECEMBER 5.
Please write checks to East Amwell School.
All donations will be used to purchase gifts for children in need in the central Jersey area. Two students per class will be chosen to shop on December 10 when we travel to Toys
R Us. The entire class will help wrap the gifts and make tags and cards.
Each year our toy drive exceeds our expectations! We look forward to making the holidays special for deserving chil-
dren once again.
THANK YOU for your generosity!
