All Controls includes: Air servicing unit and Speed flow controls

Glossary:Locking function when the cylinder has switched into the powerstroke, and the sensor signaling “tool closed” has been

met, the finger sensors can be released. The cylinder develops the preset pressure and then retracts.Single step mode used for setup of the machine. Momentary activation of the 2-hand buttons results in single step

sequencing of the cylinder.Jog mode is similar to the single step mode, but the cylinder can be stopped at any desired position.

Technical Data:electric: all required electric components, emergency reset, in-feed, function keys etc. are included.pneumatic: includes all required valves as well as an air servicing unit, as well as flow controls for approach and

return speed.Stand-alone: Controls ordered without a press will be delivered with 3 meter long hoses and wiring.

For presses with 2-Hand safety con-trols and using tooling with an ope-ning > 6 mm, a sensor for “tool clo-sed” must be installed (see opera-ting manual) according to the

TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK shall notbe held liable for any damage orinjuries resulting from neglect ormisapplication. The buyer guaran-tees to TOX® PRESSOTECHNIKthat they will comply with all applica-ble national and local safety regulati-ons prior to use of the equipment.

By definition, any pinch points alongthe return stroke of the tooling areamust be properly guarded.

All controls are supplied accordingto TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK specifi-cations, which can be obtaineddirectly from us or over the internet.Password will be provided onrequest.

The buyer must ensure that anypresses and controls supplied byTOX® PRESSOTECHNIK conform toall applicable national and localOccupational Safety Hazard Guideli-nes.

guidelines provided in the DIN EN13736 standards. The sensor mustbe installed in such a way that it willprovide a signal once the tooling isclosed. If the tool opening is ≤ 6 mm

or the tooling area is guarded (e.g.perimeter guarding), then this sensoris not required.

The sensor serves as a fail safemethod of the command for the selflocking function.

Safety recommendations for press controls with self locking function

Safety:Activating the integrated emergencyreset button will introduce the returnstroke immediately in any operatingmode. In case of a loss in air pressure, theworking rod will not retract and coulddrift down slowly.

Optional:It is recommended to implement arod safety catcher whenever instal-ling a die set or moving platen in thepress. This provides a safe meansof catching the tooling in the eventof a sudden loss in air pressure.

If any or both of the sensing devicesare released prematurely, the TOX®-Powerpackage will retract immedia-tely.

After completing a cycle, a new onecan only be initiated after the 2-Hand safety sensing devices havebeen released during the return stro-ke of the previous cycle.

Depending on the type of controls, additional signals can be used, suchas parts presence sensors.

Complete process sequencing canbe realized using our PLC controls.

The cycle is initiated using the twofinger sensing devices on the 2-Hand safety module. Both sensingdevices must be activated within 0.5seconds. The working rod willadvance through the fast approachstroke until it meets resistance. Thisresistance will shift the sequencevalve and initiate the power stroke. The TOX®-Powerpackage remainspressurized as long as the sensingdevices are activated. Once the pre-set oil pressure is reached, the pres-sure switch sends a signal to thedirectional valve to retract the wor-king rod. Controls with the selflocking function initiate the returnstroke automatically regardless ofwhether the safety sensing devicesare still activated. The working rodwill retract as soon as the preset oilpressure has been reached.

Basic operation of the electric TOX®-2-Hand-Controls when used with the TOX®-Powerpackage-Presses

Standard execution of the TOX® safety controls

Additional Information on the TOX®-Controls

• Flow control valves to regulate speed during approach and return strokes, air servicing unit, oil pres-sure switch to signal return stroke(not included with straight pneuma-tic controls)

• For machines without a base or fororders without a PC press, the control elements will be supplied separately including 3 m of connecting power lines. This applies also to controls which are ordered with a TOX®-Powerpacka-ge and are to be mounted by the customer.

TOX®-Pressing ControlsThe Safety Window for Your Process

Application:The pressing monitoring systemEPWL checks processes where aprecisely defined functional correlati-on between force and distance mustbe checked. The EPWL is used wide-ly to monitor joining, riveting, pressfitand staking processes.

The EPWL can be used in fully auto-mated production lines, as well as inmanual processes such as accep-tance sampling in shipping and recei-ving.

Quick component part changes areno problem for the EPWL. Up to 8component part specific parametersettings are available and can becontrolled by PLC or by menu.

The windows for the work processare determined and defined according to customer requirements.

The TOX® pressing control EPWLchecks continuously your pressingoperation providing quality controlduring production:

- it monitors pressing- and formingprocesses, as Force-Distance

- controls windows: threading, progression, block measure/block force

- 8 different component part typesin 8 measuring programs

- provides most important data about process status

- RS 232 standard- RS 485 optional

• Project overview to visualize andparameterize clinching processes.

• Status report provides a clear dis-play of primary parameters for oneor several processes.

• Process overview for parameter-ization of individual processes. A separate force sensor can be defi-ned for each process (e.g. for change of TOX® tools or for TOX®

clinching units with different para-meters).

• End value overview for a quick control of the last 100 clinch points. These values can be re-called and exported at any timewith help of the TOX®

Wiring diagram:

ZDO.01.400A with analog output

ZDO.01.400 Standard

The oil pressure in the high pressurechamber of the TOX®-Powerpackageis registered in the electronic pressu-re switch as the system pressure anddisplayed by a 4 digit LED display.According to the selected switch fun-ction, two output signals are genera-ted. With the help of the program-ming keys, an electronic setting ofswitch point, switch back point (in 1%increments over the nominal range),the corresponding time delays (from0 to 50 sec), switch functions for theoutput, rise time (damping), as wellas locking/unlocking is possible.

A window programming is also possi-ble. Installation of the ZDO is simpleand takes only a few minutes. Theprogrammed values are safely storedin the EPROM independent of thesupply voltage.

The oil pressure in the high pressurepart of the TOX®-Powerpackage isregistered by the pressure sensor assystem pressure and indicated by5 digits on the pressure indicator withintegrated sensor supply. The mea-sured value „pressure“ is displayed in“bar”. It is possible to change thepressing force into kN on site. A free-ly programmable microprocessorcontrols the evaluation of the signal. The function keys on the front part ofthe processor measuring deviceserve for programming. The function„instantaneous value storage“ is avai-lable for receiving variable measuringsignals. Further investigations arepossible with the peak valuememory. A freely selectable analogoutput (4...20 mA, 0...10 V) is availa-ble for connection with a PLC. Asoption, a serial interface for the trans-mission of the measured data to aPC is offered as well.

TOX® Accessory, electricalRod End Load Cell ZPSdirectly mounted on the working rod of the TOX®-Powerpackage

The rod end load cell ZPS can bemounted directly on the working rodof the TOX®-Powerpackage cylinder.

The load cell ZPS measures forcesin the direction of the applied force. Itis sealed against dirt and moisture. The load cells are available invarious sizes to fit each TOX®-Powerpackage. The sensor shouldbe applied with an antirotation devi-ce, to avoid damage of the connec-tion cable (see next page).
