”smart access”

Introduction :

The ”smart access” system is an alternative way to control access to trucks. It’s offered as an option to the standard key pad PIN-code based system and can be obtained for a number of truck models.

”Smart Access” benefits

• Protection against theft and non-authorised usage since you need either an electronic key or card in order to start the truck. Only persons equipped with the relevant key or card can start the truck.

• Access to specific truck types are programmed on the electronic key or card.

• No PIN codes to memorise.

• If a new driver is employed his electronic key/card just needs to be programmed with the right authorisation. No need for update of PIN-lists on all involved trucks.

• Different driver profiles can easily be transferred to the truck just by programming and presenting the electronic key/card to the truck.

• A special electronic key or card can be programmed for external operators granting them access to the truck fleet in a controlled way.

• On all trucks ordered with the ”smart access” system, there will be two electronic ID-keys supplied. For retrofit purposes there will be a similar configuration available from the parts division.

• Trucks fitted with the ”smart access” system need to be set up, shortly after they have been delivered to the end user. The set up process can either be done by the customer himself or with the assistance of the sales company.

• Certain information is needed to set up the trucks and this information is normally provided by the customer

Set up key

• A set-up key needs to be programmed and presented to each truck prior to a driver’s key can be accepted

• The set-up key will hold information of truck type and departmental belonging of the truck and when presented to the truck, this information will be transferred to the truck

Presenting a set-up key to the truck

After a set-up key has been programmed it needs to be introduced to the truck. Make sure the battery glove is connected, and the ID-reader unit is off, then press the green button on the ID-unit and present the set-up key within 5 seconds to the reader area. A red LED will light up indicating that the truck has accepted the set-up key.

NOTE! Under normal circumstances a set-up key only needs to be programmed and presented once to each truck.

Driver ID-key in T.W.I.S. application

• Each driver should have a driver’s ID-key

• A driver’s key is needed to start the truck

• A driver’s key will hold information of Truck type, departmental authorization and PIN as well as the preferred driver profile

• The driver profile/s need to be defined and set in the individual truck if auto transfer of individual driver’s profiles should be performed at start up. (The setting of different driver profiles requires a service key and is described in the SM chapter 11.5)

Presenting a driver’s key to the truck

After a driver’s key has been programmed it needs to be presented to the truck. Press the green button on the ID-unit and present the driver’s key within 5 seconds to the reader area. A green LED will light up indicating that the truck has accepted the driver’s key. If the key is invalid, a red LED will light up instead.

NOTE! A driver’s key needs to be presented every time a driver wants to start the truck.
