SUBJECT: Introducing the Release of System Software Package v36.01.01

GENERAL: This Technical Publication is to inform the field on the release of System Software Package v36.01.01 for the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2030/ C2020 copiers to correct field claims and add new service modes and specification changes.

An Executable file has been created which contains the following:

Service Support Tool v4.33Ez or higher must be used to either flash the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2030/ C2020 series or to prepare the software for a USB Flash Drive.

Refer to the remainder of this Technical Publication for details about this new System Software Package v36.01.01 for the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2030/C2020 copier.

Content Delivery System: (CDS) CDS is a service infrastructure where the system software is pushed to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2030/ C2020 by ways of the internet.

Service Support Tool: (Start Assist Mode) To upgrade the System Software other than the use of CDS, the Start Assist Mode button is recommended to perform a full upgrade with the use of the Service Support Tool v4.33Ez or higher.

USB Flash Drive: Flashing the System Software by use of a USB Flash Drive is supported.

[Modification of an error] Countermeasure to prevent an E002-0006: To prevent a power shortage generated at the time when starting the device due to the erroneous detection of the thermistor which occurs rarely when the fixing assembly is cold at the starting moment.

2 [Modification of an error] Specification has been added so that an Alarm Code "00-E020" will be issued when the DHALF control cannot be properly executed due to a deteriorated surface of ITB.

[Specification change] Changing the near end detection timing of the waste toner sensor increases the collected toner amount in the EXT-TBOX. Accordingly the setting value of EXT-TBOX has been shifted.

Note) Set value "4" is equivalent to existing "9" from v62.02. Default value "0" is changed to "4". Please note that upgrading from the old version (earlier than v62.02) to v62.02 or later changes all the set values "0 ~ 9" of EXT-TBOX to default value "4".

Note when overwriting MEAP Cont: MEAP Cont contains SSOHLogin.jar. When the MEAP Cont is downloaded from the SST, the uninstalled applications may be reinstalled. Uninstalling of the applications should be performed if necessary.

Regarding file Transmissions, exceptions for File and Printer Sharing (with SMB), FTP Server (with FTP) need to be enabled in Windows firewall.

Points to note regarding version upgrading: When the version is upgraded with a USB device in use, the progress bar on the Local UI on rare occasions stops during reboot. When this phenomenon occurs, turn off the main power switch of the copier and remove the USB device from a USB port (on the right of control panel or the rear right of the copier); then turn on the main power switch again.

LIMITATIONS: No. Description

1 When copying with Page Numbering + Reduce, it may take 1.5 to 2.3 times as long to copy as usual.

2 With N on 1 + 2-sided Calendar Type document, it takes 2 times or more as long to copy as usual.

3 UI response may be delayed for approx. 90 sec after turning on the power.

4 [RUI] When Status Monitor/Cancel >Send >Job Log >Fax is displayed, it takes longer to display it compared to the other models.

Procedure to Setup the USB Flash Drive for the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2020/C2030

(Note: This USB procedure differs from other imageRUNNER models)

1. Create a Folder on your USB Flash Drive. (See Below)

2. Extract the downloaded file (Example - USB_iAC2030_v28.01.01) to the Canon File Folder on the C: Drive and then right click on the file and copy. When this file is finished extracting, click into the folder to see SYSTEM_2801-JEGSFI-DCON_5301-FIN_CON_0701.

3. Copy SYSTEM_2801-JEGSFI-DCON_5301-FIN_CON_0701 and paste it in the iAC2030 folder on the USB Flash Drive.

Flashing the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2020/C2030

1. Place the USB Flash Drive into the USB port on the side of the control panel and turn the machine on holding 2 & 8 to place into Download Mode.

2. Select the version to download: (example: SYSTEM_2801-JEGSFI-DCON_5301-FIN_CON_0701). 3. Select 1: Upgrade 4. Select 0: OK
