  2. 2. INTRODUCTION The Bell of Huesca is a legend describing how Ramiro II of Aragon, the Monk, cut off twelve noblemens heads, who did not obey him.
  3. 3. PROTAGONIST Alfonso I el Batallador: he was the king of Aragn and Pamplona. Ramiro ll el Monje: he was Alfonso ls brother, when Alfonso died he inherited the kingdom of Aragn San Ponce de Tomeras: he was the old instructor of Ramiro ll
  4. 4. LEGEND After the death in 1134 of Alfonso the Battler childless, his brother Ramiro II the Monk inherited the kingdom of Aragn, Bishop of Roda de Isbena. Aragon suffered so many internal and external problems.
  5. 5. LEGEND Ramiro II being concerned about the disobedience of his nobles sent a messenger to ask his instructor about what to do. He was led to the monastery garden and the instructor cut some tall cabbage. Then he ordered the messenger to repeat the gesture he had seen to the king. Ramiro II summoned the chief nobles to come to Huesca, on the pretext of making a bell to be heard throughout the kingdom. Once there, he cut off the guilty nobles heads,
  6. 6. IMPACTS A lot of painters and artists used this history to their pictures and from this day no one deceive to the king.
  7. 7. LEGEND The more popular form develops the fact the king summoned Cortes and summoned all the nobles of the kingdom so they could see a bell would be heard throughout the kingdom. The rebels made them go one by one in the room and was beheaded them as they were entering. Once dead, put them in a circle and the Bishop of Huesca, the most rebellious, placed in the center as a clapper.
